What does torture actually achieve in the end?

It helps those that would like to rape people, but are too afraid of the consequences.

Does the death penalty in Texas deter murders?

By the evidence it doesn't.

That's what I meant. It is for the people who want to torture people but not break the law.

It annoys me so much when people don't get what I said. Sorry, Gav....but it's just so irritating.

Stop, it doesn't... Deter, that is harder to say.

What you said was that being tortured acts as a deterrent to potential rapists.

I said torture wouldn't deter them...what have I missed...(Im not trying to be a dick, assume good faith!)

I picture Lone Pig lookin' just like his avatar, a white attention whore...

No. That was certainly not what I said.

I said it was a fantasy of the people that propose such things.

Nothing Only your inclusion in it

Now slow down! I am as said with you that rape is horrible!

Rape is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING AT ALL like Child molestation and they should not even be put into the same sentence like you just did!

Sure Bardock42 has a difference of opinion but I am pretty sure he is against raping. Some people have an easy time getting over it and if some have most should be capable of it if they really wanted to. Some does not and I pity them. I feel sorry for them and sometimes think if there is any justice in the world. But you are overdoing the situation. If Bardock42 truly means what you say that rape is nothing then he is doing wrong. But I hardly believe he think that it is like nothing at all ermm

I'm not overdoing it. I'm simply sharing my opinions just like everyone else.

YES Child molestation is worse than rape. But that's EXACTLY my point! Rape is a horrible thing! And People like Bardock and Long Whatever are on here saying it's nothing! So what's next? Is someone like Long going to write a topic saying Child Molestation is wrong and we just have to deal with him?

Rape is a serious matter. Rape victims have Every* right to be upset about it.

But this does lead me to a question. Who here knows a rape victim? Anyone? Because everyone is on here saying how they're so traumatized forever and all this. So I'm just wondering who you've met that's like that.

This sentence means:

those that would like to rape people,

potential rapists

but are too afraid of the consequences

the potential rapists are deterred.

Did you post something i missed?

Did you even read what I said. I did not say it is nothing. People like you make it worse for rape victims with your ridiculous behaviour.

Also, we are saying they should not be traumatized forever....

Shika: Knowing a rape victim and knowing someone who is scared for life by rape can be 2 different people.

Also, you dont know Bardock so putting him into that category is ignorant on your part.

Rob: I agree with your punishment for those women I mention earlier.

So am I. I don't want the victims to be traumatized forever. I believe they should have a happy life.

But the truth is. It takes time. They need healing. They need to be able to trust people again. They can't get raped and then go "Oh well! Now lets go shopping!"

Bardock has a point though, will it really help if you keep calling them a victim, and make rape out to seem the worst thing there is.

Of course it's bad, but it doesn't really help the victims to be constantly reminded of that. They should instead focus on getting back to normal and getting a normal life again. Without being reminded of their rape over and over again.

Would be nice if they could though.

*sigh* That is my point!

I'm not saying anything mean to Bardock. He has a right to his opinion and I agree with it to a extent.

No, I don't know Bardock, SL, I'm not trying to put him in that category. I was asking a question it wasn't directed at him or anyone in particular. Just a simple question.

Yes they need to focus on getting back to their lives. That's not what I'm arguing about. I'm talking about the rape in general and how it is* worse than a bar fight.

I'm arguing on the importance of rape. Not the aftermath. I believe that women and men, after the rape should try and go back to their lives. Go to counselling, groups, whatever they need to. But it takes time. It's not an overnight thing.

The ultimate solution, is to help them get over the incident, then let them move on.

Yeah and then there are people like you who say that what they've been through is nothing and it makes them feel sad and alone.

What next? Should child molestation and murder be ok?

Oh I see... yeah... I see where you agree with him to a point. My bad. 😛

Look, rape is a sensitive subject.

I agree that women and men should try and receive help and move on.

I do not however believe that it should be treated like it's nothing.

that's all I'm trying to say. If you don't agree with it then fine, don't. I'm not trying to force you to. You gave your opinions. I'm giving mine.
