Why does any fight between Superman and Darkseid just suck?

That Apokalips Now just has to be one of the most embarrassing fights ever written. Superman deflecting the OE with his heat vision? Darkseid getting blinded for no apparent reason? Yes, I'm completely ignoring that encounter. It was just painful to go through.

And don't get me started on that fight in Superman/Batman #13...

Even in the DCAU, Darkseid at least put up a good fight when he went hand-to-hand combat with Superman, and that Darkseid wasn't even as powerful as his comic book counterpart. In the comics, Darkseid gets outright beaten or smacked around in two or three panels... I don't know how can anyone take that serious.

That they may be avatars, or Desaad in disguise makes sense. Darkseid would probably be too busy to deal with half the things we've seen him do.
