I do not understand how someone can believe in alot of gods and not just one.Would you be convice that there are alot of gods to worship and remember?
It would be hard to keep up with them.THey do have the heaven and hell right which is surprising. But no I don't belive in mythology. As interesting as the stories are.jm

Well, you just believe in a different mythology. For some reason one God seems more likely to you than many.

I think a number of Gods, would be much more likely than there being being one omniscient one. Maybe someday there'll be a thread about Christian mythology, and whether it's still valid.

I myself am pagan so I follow similarly as the greeks but not exactly.

I accidentally ended up taking part in a pagan ceremony type thing once, in Bali after a long night out. One of the funniest night outs I've had.

what did it entail?

Well we sort of joined this group, and all held hands in this big circle, then we had to like close our eyes and one woman started making sort of a humming noise, then everyone else started. This was all done on a beach by the way. Then, at the end of it we all had to pour a glass of water into the sea. Then after that, there was sort of another smaller circle round a bonfire, we left just after that.
I think it was something to do with giving thanks to the elements, not sure if it was a pagan thing though. Was just pretty funny for us drunk lads to have somehow got involved in.

😂

yeah well there are lots of different denominations very much like there are in christianity and they all have their own way of doing things.
It sounds like a celebration of the lady.
ruler of the moon, water, fertility, intuition, I could go on.
I'm a solitary practitioner cause I find group work weird and over exagerated.
So being drunk I'm guessing you found it, shall we say, a tad hilarious. 😂

I am not drunk and the idea cracks me up.

Yeah it was utter hilarity, I was so close to bursting out laughing when all the humming started. I'm sure the lass who's hand I was holding thought I was possessed, due to my shaking.

quite possibly 😂
how did you get involved in it?

It was quite weird, we were in like a small sort of cafe/bar after our night out at about 3am, winding down n drinkin n that. N than some woman came n said do you want to help us give thanks for the water, in quite broken English, n we were like - 'sounds funny' so yeah we just did it.

one of those "why not" moments eh?

It's as believable and factually accurate as Christianity and all other religions.... So no..... I don't believe in it because it's totally unbelievable and stupid.

I WISH Greek mythology were real. Perseus slaying the Kraken is somehow much more cooler than Jesus feeding 5000 or whatever.

This post reminds me of that old Star Trek episode where Capt. Kirk and them find a distant planet where the Greek gods have gone to live, since no one on earth worships or believes in them anymore.

I haven't seen that episode in like 20 years, but this post automatically opened up the flood gates of my memory.

And Apollo wasn't very happy about it either.. 🙁

And it didn't end with the blending of the male and female elements......Oh, shame on them. It wasn't true worship.

Mythology.

Nuff said. 🙂
