The New Authority Respect Thread

This thread focuses solely on members of The Authority. But it covers all of their Stormwatch appearances, every Authority issue that has come out so far, as well as crossovers and solo runs. Anyone familiar with the old thread will notice large additions to every character, more than double the material in some cases. While I doubt any thread can make the claim of totally comprehensive coverage of a character, this should have every worthwhile appearance and feat ever for the Authority to this point.

Notes:
1. This thread is broken into sections based on the characters.
2. This is merely feats. For anyone unfamiliar with these characters, I’d recommend picking up something of The Authority. They’re Wildstorm comics (owned by DC) and are sweet as hell.
3. My thanks to anyone who contributed scans. Particularly Charlotte DeBel, who contributed about half of the material for Jack Hawksmoor.
4. Enjoy! There’s scattered respect threads better than this one, but this is an example of how to do one well.

I. Apollo

Description: Basically a Superman type. Uber-charged, he’s probably on par with the big guy, but otherwise a bit lower.

Clearing the moon with his heat-vision. The 2nd scan shows how it was basically spreading over the entire moon.

Crashes into a space station with a “docking bay the size of a continent”. Judging by that, it’s probably the size of a small planet. He doesn’t destroy it completely, but the size of the explosion is telling and impressive.

With his senses, he can detect radiation signatures. Here he identifies a faint radiation mark that indicates a teleportation happened in the recent past

After alluding to Superman’s “faster than a speeding bullet” he proceeds to streak across a single panel multiple times, killing a bunch of giant-alien-things.

A fight with a telepath who gains the strength of those he controls. By this point, he had taken over roughly 70% of the population of Earth, and had previously punched Apollo around the world (before he was charged a bunch). So saying he’s Class Million+ probably isn’t an exaggeration. Apollo also lifts and topples a skyscraper that was taller than any building in Los Angeles.

I feel like I need to say some things before these next scans...
Apollo "loses" his first encounter with Captain Atom. He was dominating the exchange, but then CA tricked him into going near the sun so that CA could use his matter manip. to give Apollo a fatal dose of his own power.

Keeping that in mind...

About a page after "losing" to CA, Apollo ignores a direct blast from him. The same one that floored Majestic earlier in the arc.

Here's where they trigger the Void inside CA and everything is destroyed. But we see that Apollo's heat vision can crack CA ultra-tough skin:

So.

In normal circumstances (away from the sun), all we see is CA getting tooled, even with his upgrades. I’m not saying Apollo’s > Captain Atom, but it’s something to think about.

II. The Midnighter

Description: Can run millions of combat variations through his head before a fight even starts, and has implants that allow him to see the enhancements other people have. Also has slightly enhanced strength/healing/agility/etc. Generally just a supreme badass.

Feats

Fighting a group of young supervillians sent to create havoc. He kills some, dodges others, then communicates with The Carrier to send them all to their graves. He leaves one alive so he can lop his head off.

With his enhancements, he has telescopic vision, enough to find snipers at over a mile away. It’s also useful because this scan shows how actual information can be shared via Angie’s radio-telepathy, not just words (which is all they normally use it for).

This is an extremely sweet fight between MN’er and a group of armored tanks. Among other things, he drop-kicks a tank shell away from himself and blocks machine-gun fire with his staff.

Growing a replacement set of lungs so she could breathe in an inhabitable atmosphere, then creating some big guns out of her hands to fight a giant-turd-thing.

V. Swift

Description: This is broken into 2 sections. The first is Jeroen, the hippy who acted as the Authority's first “Doctor.” Habib is second, and currently holds the title. Basically, The Doctor is an immensely powerful reincarnated being who watches over the Earth. Each Doctor retains their own personality, but inherits the memories, experiences, and knowledge of every Doctor that has come before him/her. The Doctor's every thought can become reality.

Part I: Jenny Sparks

Jenny electrocutes the brain of an organism roughly the size of a continent. The carrier is the size of a city, so you can see the difference in just the Carrier compared to the brain in the first panel.

An alien "spaceship" was AFAIR an alternate reality Cansas City, not an alternate reality Tokio...just a small correction.

Also notice that Jack's own fighting style is based on high kicks to thake the most advantage of those soles, that amplify the force of kick. That's a good example of metahuman fighter using his own unorthodoxal fighting style to take advantage of his metahuman traits.

And...that's just some female thoughts, but...Jack looks much more better shaved, than unshaven (in Stormwatch scans he badly needs a shave).

Oh, and you've posted the scan with speedster twice.

And I just thought that the infamous girl in Stormwatch wasn't too scared of Jack's "deformed" thing (after all, Angie and anyone Jack has sexed up after that don't seem to bother with it so either it wasn't too horrible or he did some corrective surgery after that to remove that defect), but it was the unshaven face that shoked her so much(I don't blame her for that).
And by the way, young (18years old) Jack was rather handsome (as we cand see from the "Street Life" issue in the second volume of Authority).
