o_o; Even that is concerning. I dare you to spend an hour in /b/. You'll break about five laws just by being there.

Well some people hate on popular things just to seem "cool" and some people really do hate Nintendo's success. Since Nintendo is "kiddy" it can't possibly be cool. I mean no blood, no gore, no cursing, no titties, no space marines, obviously these games are for little kids... amirite? I'm sure that most people who voted for Gordon were just voting AGAINST Nintendo, I don't have anything against the character or the Half Life series, heck I love those games but Link is really the greater hero.

As long as the next Zelda, Metroid, and SSB games are all great I don't care if Nintendo caters to casuals all day. If it makes money and the money leads to better first party developement(and choices) then it's all good.

Link sucks ass.

Mario on the other hand is leet, Gordon can eat Mario's big floppy, urm, mushroom.

Link > ur mawm.

My mawm has boobs.

Boobs>>>Link, as Telma proved.

Link as far as characters go is meh worth for me. Not that Gordon is really that great either.

Sorry link fans but until Link stops wearing a green xmas stockin on his head he won't recieve many points from me.

The only person in TP more annoying than Telma was Midna. >_>

I spent about 10 minutes once in /b/. That's the only time I've been on there. Suffice to say, I left a different person than I had entered.

Not every hero can wear a pretentious 'badass' outfit. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I find Link's lack of cheesey one-liners, overdone costume, and bad dialogue refreshing.

I can agree that the hat can go away, however the skirt represents his manliness.

"Bad dialogue?"

He doesn't have ANY dialogue. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Link is not a "bad character," because he can hardly be labeled a character at all, he is a nobody, all we know of Link is he is like, superly duperly couragous and good-natured, and is like really smart in fyting!

You know what those are called?

Gary Stus. ๐Ÿ˜

Erm, no, actually. A Gary Stu is the male form of Mary Sue, which is basically a character, generally a self-insert, that is perfect in every single way and has absolutely no flaws at all, and any 'flaws' that they may possibly have either never have any effect or actually work for them instead of against them.

Bella from Twilight is a classic example of a Mary Sue. But since Link really has no characterization, it's not really possible for him to be one.

Let's see.

Link is good looking.

Link is very courageous and brave.

Link is always willing to stand for t3h forces of good against evil.

Link is very intelligent and able to exploit the unique weaknesses of enemies in combat, no matter the foe.

Link is able to master EVERY weapon he picks up moments after doing so.

Link is physically very fit and makes up for any physical short-comings with random items he aquires in the game.

Seriously, what "flaws" does Link have? From what we can take of his bland, nigh-nonexistant character, he is "perfect," in other words, boring and lame.

He's a Kleptomaniac, and has an undying urge to destroy pottery.

Wouldn't it be impossible for Link to be a Gary Stu because he is the character ever Gary Stu copies?

No, that would be Jesus.

In all seriousness, the Gary Stu has existed far beyond Zelda, don't kid yourself.

eh not really... the reason he's a silent protagonist is for people to project themselves into the role. so basically Link = Gordon = You

There's badass, and then there's a **** =\

He's generally dressed fine, but that hat.......*shudders*

It's just bad.

That arguably makes him more of a Gary Stu...Wish fulfillment indeed.
