There is no shame in not knowing the lyrics for your national anthem. What matters is to genuinely embrace it when others sing, should you lack the means to. A national anthem is there to pay respect to your country, the people in it and heroes of the past, and respect is not paid in words, but with heart.
Thank you, that really does make me feel better. I was really kind of embarrassed, especially since I hear it at least twice a week. And I do love and respect my country, I'm gonna put the song on my ipod.
