The characters have been done to death in spin-offs, not the actual game itself. There's a difference.
I honestly wouldn't mind if they made a remake for FFVII (hopefully with the errors of the original fixed >__>😉. Though it's not something I'd find the need to play.
A remake a FF7 wouldn't be so bad. It'd be cool to see the scenes in the current technology. Only thing wrong with the idea is the fact that the FF7 cast has been milked for popularity harder than any other members of FF franchise. Though, I think since all of the games since 7 have been remade in some way, it should at least keep consistent.
