Furthermore, where did you prove any reference to finger-severing by Henry V?

That was when I was drunk, and drunk people are not known for being eloquent or clear in their meaning. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Also, the wikipedia quote.
"Historian Juliet Barker quotes Jean Le Fevre (who fought on the English side at Agincourt) as saying that Henry V included a reference to the French cutting off longbowmen's fingers in his pre-battle speech."

^Will take Juliet over Ush.

Or I can snarl at Cyner for posting an overly large image. Link to big images like that!

You haven't taken Juliet. You do not even know who Juliet is, or anything about any serious historical sutdy of this area at all. You've certainly not read the book or consulted any source. You've just taken one flailing encyclopeida claim, unchecked, and think that gives you any strength in this argument.

Where the heck did you learn about history- or rationality, or sensible methods of debate and argument construction? My WORD this is sad.

Being drunk is an excuse for being wrong- it doesn't make you in any way right.

Learn to only fight battles you can win. You look such a prat right now, to reasonable eyes.

First of all establish it. You've not established anything. This is basic history- get some sources and make a comparison. All you have is a third hand report (not even second hand because you don't even have the source, you are just parroting a line from WIKIPEDIA of all places).

Then compare this to the fact that no-one else mentions any such thing being said- including all the quite copious ENGLISH sources from the battle- and the fact that no such practice was ever reported, anywhere, happening in any sort of significant manner and we soon see any attempt to defend your idea as serious fact is pathetic.

Meanwhile, you are lying. you were not just putting nemesis right- he was indeed confused of course- as you very plainly and obviously used the 'pluck yew' line and stated that French did that to longbowmen. Which I then sensibly refuted in the interest of general knowledge as opposed to general ignorance and error.

And don't abuse the report system like that, just because I've shown you up.

You've established so far: You disbelieve the myth, good for you. You've posted links that disprove it. You haven't disproven finger-cutting to my knowledge with anything more than a thought experiment, but hey.

AHEM. I already said this could very well have been propaganda. ๐Ÿ™‚

Show me lying? I was drunk This is non-canon to my sober self. Yeah, I minced words, but I was correcting him on the context. ๐Ÿ™‚

You're not immune to the rules, flame me and I will report you.

Even more hilarious is the fact the "encyclopedia" in question is Wikipedia, and as any respectable school will tell you, Wikipedia never, ever counts as a valid source.

Except I am not breaking the rules, because I am simply demolishing your argument., Reporting me in those circumstances IS abuse of the report system and hence against the rules though, and you'll get warned on it.

You are asking me to prove a negative- ridiculous., You have not in any way PROVEN finger cutting., And when you have no reasonable historical evidence for something happening... that is called something NOT happening. Else I can just say aliens built the pyramids and say there is no contrary source.

ELEMENTARY stuff this. You have to establish it first. There is NO historical establishment of any such thing ever happening.

And it i as simple as this- if it had happened, people would have noted it. Henry V's speeches in the Hundred Years War WERE recorded, by the English side. No record of any such claim of his is recorded. You know why? Because he never said it. And not one single other person, on either side, ever in history is reported to have made such a claim either. What does that tell you?

We're not at school, we're having a little discussion ona forum for debate of video game characters, and if you want I could just go find an exerpt from the book and quote that; the same thing, only without being proxied from wiki.

As far as I'm concerned, it's good enough. Just cause it's written on wiki doesn't invalidate it, and I already said it could very well have been propaganda.

Except when it links its sources.

And then you go to those actual sources and use those instead of relying on the rewritten info on wiki.

Ush: Gentleman, your posts, please. We wouldn't want to make a mess of things in front of the General.
