Eragon is LotR mixed with Star Wars, with less charm, style, substance, and meaning.

Note: This is literal. As in it is blatant plagiarism. Seriously.

This explains so much from the last few pages. 131

Is that meant to be a stab at my preference in characters? Cause I loathe all of Twilight for being a pure mockery of story telling. After reading Twilight, Eragon felt like Harry Potter.

Which, now I'm reminded of way I hate people in general. I had to help a blind kid get to class on the other side of campus because no one else would. Walked him across the entire campus in pouring rain, and then walked back so I could be late to class.

Was very upset. 😒

Yep. The story of the first book is exactly the plot of A New Hope. A young, inexperienced farmboy who lives with his uncle and dreams of bigger things accidentally intercepts an object intended to help a Rebellion bring down the Evil Empire, sent off in a desperate ploy by a princess just before her capture. The boy's home is attacked by the Imperial forces and he is forced to flee, with the help of an old man he knew only vaguely before, who gives him a magic sword from an earlier age and teaches him the magic ways on an ancient order of knights. After narrowly escaping capture with the help of a roguish stranger, the old man sacrifices himself to save the boy. The boy and the stranger continue on to the Rebellion, who are attacked in their base by the Empire and barely escape absolute destruction thanks to the intervention of the farmboy.

In book two, he has to go see Yoda and then ignorantly leaves his training early just to get smacked around by a superior masked opponent, who later turns out to be his relative.

Book 3 isn't quite as bad, though him making a new sword to replace his old is very much like another young warrior.

Still, I enjoy rip offs. Need to read Lord of the Rings actually. Or at least watch it.

You can excuse yourself from the books. They're great books in their own right, but, Tokien has a habit of... going on tangents.

Lol, he waffles like a mother****er. 😆

Psh, read them. Tolkien meanders like a blind old man through a forest, but there's some great prose and poetry in there.

I probably will read them. I need something to occupy my time after Minish Cap. I just heard one time that a whole book was devoted to climbing up a mountain. Which sounds....yeah.

From a certain point of view, that's true.

There's a lot of walking. And... blond white men are frequently praised.

Slight exaggeration. Only about half the book is devoted to climbing up a mountain.

*grits teeth*

Well that's not quite as bad....for one of the most revolutionary fantasy stories ever told, I can bare it.

Lord of the Rings is awesome.

Yes, Tolkien is fond of prose and going off on tangents, but they are very, very good books.

You can basically thank LOTR for the existence of modern fantasy.

Blond white men?

Yeah. Tolkein had a hard on for tall white men with long blond hair and blue eyes.

To be fair Star Wars' plot is not exactly a well of originality, but if what you say is true, that's a lot of similarity.
