Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

Peach I wasn't trying to make anything out of that ^-^; aside from that they have had many games which came out only 1 year after release of the previous. Also, Desmonds story will probably end in the release of 2012 because it would be perfect for timing. Also, you do have to wonder with the next AC what will happen with Desmond considering the end of Brotherhood. No Spoilers for you!

On another note: Big games come out whenever. They set it for either Before Summer or Right After Summer. Ways of making us hate Gaming Industries for giving us summers without video games so we have to open our blinds and go outside XD lol jk.

Anyways, I already made a vow that I must finish all the games of 2010 before I play any 2011 games! DX no matter what it takes, I shall succeed! (note: not literally all the games, just the fun ones ๐Ÿ˜›)

I've already beaten Brotherhood, so I know the ending. Pay attention and keep up! I only babbled about it across the past three pages and mentioned it in the Brotherhood thread.

Also, while games come out whenever, October and November are the months for big releases. It's only this past year or two that that is starting to really change, because developers do not want to compete with the likes of Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed. I work in a game store and have for several years. I know when games release, and patterns for common release dates, probably better than anyone else here. I'm paid to know that sort of thing.

Games do not often come out a year after the last release, and when it does happen, they tend to not be of as high quality as the previous release. There is usually at least a two year lag between games, often more. The exceptions are sports games, because there's nothing to change but rosters and hence they can just reuse the old assets (maybe making the textures look a bit nicer), and something like Call of Duty, which has two studios working on the games so they switch off and each studio actually only does one game every two years. Games take years to make.

I wasn't referring to you and not revealing spoilers I was referring to other people who have NOT played the game yet who want to. -_-...

Also, that's by assumption. Other people may work with the same situation as you. AC Brotherhood had similar graphics and what not to AC 2. Much of it was the same, they didn't change much of it. That means they had 1 year to add quests, do detailing, storyline. The thing that takes them a long time is actually creating brand new details. Besides, that's not giving much credit to the game designers. Perhaps they're trying to make a date.

MANLY QUEST

Manly Quest?

Besides, that's not giving much credit to the game designers.

Actually, I give far more credit to designers than most people do. I did briefly work for a game studio, and know quite a few game designers. Including GK. So when I say it takes a long damn time to make a game, it's not me going "because they suck at it", it's because I know that it takes a long damn time.

They changed a lot from AC2 to Brotherhood. And it's not assumption, it's fact.

However, I will let GK, who is a game designer, tear apart your post more thoroughly.

Then I'll let you personally explain all of the things that they changed aside from increasing the size of one map so it could make up for the lack of maps in game. Clearly you're taking what I say too personally when all I'm trying to say is that maybe the dedicated team that put together AC Brotherhood are out to make a date for the release of Desmonds final story.

...they are links. Click them.

.... I know they're links. I see the link indication and I see that my mouse reacts when I scroll over. I generally like to know what the link is BEFORE I click it; but thank you for explaining that.

Similar graphics, but not identical, and except for Monteriggioni in the prologue, the environments are all new. Even Ezio's robes are a new model. The citizens of Rome, too, are new models, with new textures. The only returning models are some of the soldiers (but not all), Maria, Claudia, Machiavelli, La Volpe, Bartolomeo, and some of the Allies (but not all). There's new AI systems for the Recruits, new programming for new weapons, all the voice acting and the new story, new secret locations, new Leonardo missions, the new glyphs and all that stuff, the Desmond stuff. The only way they managed this is if it was half-done content cut from AC2. And that's not even mentioning all the work that went into the multiplayer half.

Kindly remove the bug from your butt, and just click the links. Why would a mod link to something to be wary of?

I'm just irritated that I'm responded to with a "They're links. Click them." I know what a link is and I know that it was a link. I just like to know what the link connects to. Whether your a moderator or not; your a human being on the other side of the screen (I can only assume). That being said, It would be nice to be treated with equal respect. I was just wondering what the link was before I click it, as if it was nothing to be wary of you would have nothing to hide from it. But I won't comment and I'll just go on with my life.

This conversation has caused me to show my bitchier side and so I'm falling back before I become insulting; which considering as it would be to a mod, would be a bad idea. Victory goes to: GK.

GK explained it all, but here.

New map, that is larger than all of the cities in AC2 together. The teams working on AC went into insane amounts of detail in making sure that the cities in-game matched their historical counterparts; this means both sending teams out to get thousands and thousands of photographs, and studying historical maps of the time period. Then they had to model all of the buildings and texture them. As the buildings are very different than the ones in the cities in AC2, they are clearly new assets. This takes a very long time. There is also a much wider variety in what is seen in Rome - they had to create all of the ruins as well.

Almost every character is remodeled. Ezio has new robes. Civilians look very different than the ones in AC2. Guards mostly look the same, but the Papal Guards are new.

New weapons requires new scripting, new models, and new textures.

Assassin recruits require new models, new scripting, and new AI.

Voice work takes a long time.

Kill streaks and executions require new scripting and programming, not to mention new animations.

The Lairs had to be built, the puzzles created so that they offer a level of challenge but balanced as to not be too difficult, new models created and textured, and scenes scripted.

New memories, which require scripting, AI, voice work, animations, and so on. Programming to unlock Cristina missions as your sync rate increases. Programming to change the AI of the thieves, courtesans, and mercenaries as your rank in the guilds increases.

The multiplayer, which...yeah.

That is an insane amount of work that had to be done. And I know I'm missing a lot.

Peach; I already called off my attack. I said GK wins, would you like me to say Mods win? I feel that would be uncalled for and possibly another Mod Takeover for someone to add to their bio =\ you always feel the need to restate and enhance what was just said to double on someone's efforts? Fine I'll admit it, I was wrong. AC Brotherhood was too hard and there is no way that they could have done it so clearly either they...

Took much off the end of AC2 like GK said

Upgraded everything rather than start from scratch which would be most likely what I'd think they did

or some how came back from the future with high tech gear which created the game within a years time limit as they are super high tech robots! =O

Either way, just for satisfaction I give up =\ Peach and GK beat me again in the discussion of AC Brotherhood. I lack the ability to beat their clearly mad AC Knowledgable Powers.

Oh my good god, get over yourself, there's no need to be so melodramatic when you're proven to be incorrect. It's not the end of the world.

I did not say that Brotherhood was too hard. I said that it was a game that required a ton of work because they could not simply reuse previous assets, as is the case in most games where they have quick releases.

Generally, if you try to pick arguments with people who know more about how things work, you're going to wind up losing. Did you think that we wouldn't have extensive knowledge of video games?

Also you clearly don't understand the 'mod takeovers' that GK has linked, because they're absolutely nothing of the sort. They're us being absolutely ridiculous and silly with some of the other mods.

Making fun of Spirit Tracks, and namely how Zelda is a complete pain in the ass to control in that game and will run into walls more often than not. The entire thing is an edit of this.

ahhhhhhhhhhh

thats funny

Get over yourself? Really? Look Peach, everytime that I have a discussion it turns into an argument with you. All I tried to say that even started this was "They release it in November". If you push it, you can make something happen. From that you apparently took it personal and had chosen to try and make everyone else look low compared to your apparent "vast knowledge" of how it works.

Not only that but everytime that we have an argument I back out before it gets too heated and I'm a bit tired of always taking that position. You can never accept what I've said; not in a single comment that you've made to me. It's always "Actually" or some form of contradiction.

AC releases in November, AC will most likely always release in November. I assume that Desmond's story will wrap up in 2012.

Now aside from all of that; I am remaining mostly calm. But everytime, you need to have the last word. Can't we just agree to end this without anyone actually feeling that they've come out on top in this so bluntly unneeded argument? I would be MORE than glad to say "You know a lot about video games and how they are created and you are very wise" if it weren't for the fact that i'd probably just get another lecture on it. I'm sorry that you feel that I'm so self obsessed; what can I say, I'm obsessed with myself.

She wasn't picking a fight, she was just correcting you. There's no need to freak out at her, Phoenix. Please, let's just everyone drop it.
