Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

Why can't the protagonist just straight-up kill a bad guy? Good guys sometimes do bad things, and sometimes it's necessary.

Aang's only like 13 or something. Avatar is a progressive show, but not that progressive.

That I wouldn't mind....except we see him talk to a former Air Nomad Avatar and she basically told him to kill Ozai because it was his duty. That probably bothers me the most, the fact that he asked for advice and ignored it like a kid, just to get a gift two minutes later that allows him a third option in the final confrontation.

Yeah, pretty much this. It was just used as a Deux ex Machina to take the moral dilemma. I don't mind it so much as doing that has a pretty awesome history.

Different show is different. Anime tends to be more open to violence than non-anime. Then again it depends on the company.

*glares evilly at 4Kids*

4Kids just dubs/edits it, not makes it.

And they aren't as bad as Dic was.

Avatar was clearly just trying to ride off of the popularity of anime in the US, though, so why not?

I know, but considering the common American audience watches the dub version, they have a large impact.

It would be weird if Aang flew through Ozai in a flying punch like Kid Goku. The animation would make it look wrong. Besides, people blowing up has never been Airbender's style, which is inevitably what happens in DBZ.

Also, it's Nickelodeon. They did to be a bit more kiddy than Toonami was. Like how Disney is far more uptight with Shippuden than Cartoon Network was with regular Naruto.

Aang is ten. A ten year old pacifist who views all life as sacred.

Anyone who expected him to kill Ozai was not watching as dark a show as they believed.

Anyone who expected him to kill Ozai hasn't paid attention.

Aang is 13 actually. But that's neither here nor there.
