I hated Diomedes; he was so boring.

They should have just made the main SM hero for that game Gabriel.

Mephiston would prolly do that too, but that would take time out of his busy schedule of throttling daemon princes to death and beating up carnifexes.

There are two cats having rage sex in my backyard.

Okay, so MAD's Malcom in the Middle Earth skit wasn't too bad.

Same with the Space Wolves and Dark Angels, these chapters are exceptions, not the rule, and each have their own codices.

Three hundred Imperial Fists stormed Commorragh successfully to rescue a captured cruiser, for example. Entire battallions of Guard would have been slaughtered.

Sure, but that does not imply that one SM can kill 400 IG by himself. Battlefield tactics were created specifically to allow a group of people to kill the maximum amount of enemies. It's an entirely different ball game when you're alone.

edit- Also, I'm not sure what you're referring too there. Commorragh is Dark Eldar territory, no? And also I don't see anything in the IF history referring to it.

It's not when you're entirely immune to the weaponry the guard have, and are capable of mowing them down in droves, busting their tanks, and neutralising anything that does turn out to be a threat before it can be brought to bear. ๐Ÿ˜›

Even with ideal circumstances for the guard I can't see four hundred killing a marine. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

It's in the 5th ed DE codex.

Well, a Space Marine chapter boarded the Necron World Engine, which is basically a massive planet-sized Necron Death Star.

Tens of thousands of Necrons were on board the World Engine, and only 700 Space Marnes made it on. They fought long and hard, and though the chapter was wiped out, they managed to shut down the power of the World Engine, allowing the Imperial Fleets surrounding it to destroy it once the shields were down.

While there were more space marines, and they lost, individual Necrons make several squads of Guardsmen look like absolute shit.

So 400 Guards against a single space marine is, if nothing else, not a stomp in the Guardsmen's favor as you may believe.

Got Morrowind today. 'S good.

Dark Brotherhood attacked me though. I didn't even do anything. Was that meant to happen? Oh well, their armors haxxed for just being a few hours into teh games, so I guess it was cool.

I think I'm going to move on to the Horus Heresy novels. I liked the first Gaunt's Ghosts omnibus, but Dan Abnett's wanking of the IG is beginning to irk me. I was cool with First and Only, but once it got to the point where the Ghosts could stand up to an army of 10,000 chaos cultists with 400 troops and only lose one person in the entire engagement, I started to scratch my head.

If that's how he portrays your average IG grunt, I'm curious to see how he treats Speyce Murheens.

Well to be fair cultists kind of suck and they're completely shitballs loony. I once read a codex where millions of cultists failed to take out a single enemy because they just walked towards them slowly, unarmed, laughing their heads off. Bitches be crazy.

Yes, the Dark BRotherhood all attack you in Morrowind and shit.

Darn, the brotherhood were my bros in Oblivion. I didn't like killing them then and I don't now. ๐Ÿ™

Well, then you are not man enough to play Morrowind. Which is far more dark and brutal than Oblivion.

I for one actually like him glad Cyrus and Martellus wasn't the traitors. And going by Cyrus's speak, the traitor has to be Avitus as he was the only one besides Thule to serve in the Kronus campaign.

In the climax battle of Ghostmaker, 400 of Gaunt's Ghosts, an inquisitor, and an honor guard of like 8 Volpone troops storm an Eldar temple that's being attacked by chaos. The Eldar cast some sort of genjutsu that makes the Ghosts think they're fighting on their home planet instead of where they really are, which "inspires them", so they take on a force of 10,000 cultists and kill like 2-3000 of them before the cultists retreat. The Ghosts lose one guy in the whole assault.

Sounds fishy to me. Even a full space marine chapter would probably sustain more losses than that.

Cultists tend to be armed worse than normal guardsmen to be fair,
in armor and weapondry.
