Now, if in the game Johnny Cage was explicitly shown to have less than helicopter durability, you would have a point. That said, when did Johnny Cage survive multiple fireballs from Shang Tsung? Oh, and context is everything, was this a larger, more powerful fireball than the kind of fireballs Shang Tsung randomly throws?
It's this kind of stuff which kills debates. Honestly. Let me give you an example of the latest mk game in story mode which is canon.Shang Tsung's fireball blows up a chopper. Johnny Cage can survive multiple fireballs so by your logic cage's skin is more durable than a helicopter. This doesn't make any sense and is tragically wrong on all counts.
See my example I put up right above.
Portrayal and common sense go hand in hand. Akuma couldn't just laugh off a free fall into spikes on the pit fatality just like Johnny Cage's skin isn't more durable than a chopper. This stuff doesn't alll logically make any sense and is going against their portrayals in the games. Can Bison wreck islands ? Because I am sure his character is capable of beating akuma.
Mk vs. dc I know isn't canon but then again Shang Tsung learned a fatality from the joker so take that as you will. I did that to prove a point.
Yes, like most things in fiction it doesn't add up since bullets can't hurt him but lesser things can and have.
So have mk characters as well if we went by feats. I mean Liu Kang can tear through Shao Kahn's flesh but I am not going to say he just rips through anyone who gets into a fight with him based off of this feat.
Ermac also easily tk's jax's arms off. Portrayal jumps in and says he can't easily do this to anyone with human arms in the games.
I wish I could save you from this lunacy.
Let me make my self painfully clear. Let's just say for example johnny cage can punch someone's head off in multiple games. Now let's say he never ever kills Liu Kang in continuity because well quite frankly he never does.
That doesn't mean he doesn't have the ability to do so only that it never happened. These characters are consistently portrayed as having superhuman strength from game to game and just because he doesn't punch Liu Kang's head doesn't mean he doesn't have the strength to do so in the right situation.
You can thank me later.
2. Only Akuma is explicitly shown to be durable enough to laugh off spikes. For the love of God, you have to be trolling, because if not then by all rights you should not actually know how to operate a keyboard. Can Bison wreck islands? There are many things wrong with what you just said, and I will point them out to you. First of all, he has not ever wrecked an island. But he has vaporised cities. ๐ Secondly, Bison and Akuma have "fought" once. It consisted of Akuma killing Bison with a single attack. ๐ In literally every piece of media I have seen, Akuma is more powerful than Bison. Oh, and Bison has, by the way, survived having nuclear missiles dropped on him.
3. And what point were you trying to prove troll? That you are a troll who brings up irrelevant noncanon points for the sake of trolling? Well, see here troll, I can do that too. Akuma has beaten Galactus in a game and stolen his Power Cosmic, and has fought with guys like Thor, Dormammu, and Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet. There, noncanon feats are fun, huh?
4. Oh really? What lesser things have hurt Evil Ryu by the way? ๐ By all means, humor me, since the few times Evil Ryu has shown up, he was basically immune to the attacks the other fighters threw at him, and bullets of course were useless against him. Don't make claims you cannot prove.
5. To be blunt, Mortal Kombat characters are not very durable. While Liu Kang could surely tear through the flesh of a normal human, against someone who possesses superhuman durability, it is not so easy, or even impossible.
6. Why not? Oh, and keep in mind that fatalities only are used after the opponent has had the shit beaten out of them and are nearly dead, meaning the reason he does not just do that to the fighters right off the bat, is because he cannot. Oh, and I should point out that technically fatalities are a gameplay mechanic, in the same way it is possible for a Dan player to beat Akuma in gameplay. Would not happen in the plot, but can happen in gameplay. That is not an issue of feats vs. portrayal, that is an issue of gameplay mechanics, like Fatalities are.
7. The real question is: Why would Johnny Cage try to kill Liu Kang? IIRC they have never been enemies. I have no doubt that Johnny Cage can punch the head off a normal man, or lesser, maybe even equal fighters in MK. Can he do the same to Onaga? Nah, probably not.
I always got the vibe that Mortal Kombat characters were glass cannons. That they can output more damage than their bodies can handle. They have good damage soak, but their bones seem brittle in comparison.

So you are pink? Well, at least I have an idea of what you look like.
Every once in awhile, Nemebro, Scream, Nemesis, GK, Aura or Goomba will come in here and say something so awesome that it makes all of the cringe worthy discussions that go on in this thread forgivable.
Plus, I like to surround myself with inferiors so that I remember what it's like to not be the pinnacle of evolution. Think of it in similar terms to the one really awesome person who's best friends with a bunch of ugly people, to feel special.
