Street Fighter was the better 2D fighter mechanic wise for their entire duration, but I agree SF's characters really bore the shit out of me. If you want a fighting game with a storyline and character depth you can give a shit about, play Guilty Gear. Or Blazblue.
Mortal Kombat is just one more fighting game with an irrelevant plot, do not pretend it is not.
Oh, and as for girls, not really. Mileena is the only girl that is especially hot if you ask me, and well, that's because my tastes are weird. She is hot because of the teeth, not in spite of it.

-Not at all. Mortal Kombat has more backstory and mythical/ethereal concepts in place than Street Fighter by far. They only ever expound on lame 'shoto' centered concepts. It's a Capcom series, the same guys who made Dante. Ergo they know shit about good story telling.

I can't stand the lifeless characters from street fighter. The only other fighting game I really enjoyed but it quickly lost it's luster was soul caliber.

Kei Long is just a knockoff kinda like Liu Kang. Both are lame. At least mk has true originals like scorpion and sub zero. Goro was also original at the time and even though they stole ideas from big trouble in little china for shang tsung and raiden it sure worked.

No, Ken and Akuma are lame as ****. But I'd take either over any of those MK people you name.
