Oh god, whenSpoiler:I wished it was possible to slap someone through a book. I mean, as a character, I liked her and was sympathetic to her, but wtf,
Katniss voted for a last Hunger GamesSpoiler:
she was willing to continue to cycle that she was trying to end. Killing innocent kids wasn't going to bring Prim back, especially since the Capitol wasn't responsible for her dying.Honestly, I was pretty shocked by the books - they're YA lit, but there's a lot of death, and Collins didn't hold back on the descriptions of violence. They're great, though. Jarring, and quite dark and harsh, but great.
I literally just finished reading Mockingjay about 5 hours ago - I read all three books this weekend ๐
Well
Spoiler:
one can make the argument that Katniss didn't really know who to blame at that point. It was only at the very end she decided not to kill Snow, so maybe putting his granddaughter in there was her means of still punishing him. But yes, still a ***** move.
I know. I suppose one can't expect anything else from the concept though.
Spoiler:had my grandmother in tears for a while. Personally,
Rue's death
Spoiler:was the worst. Made everything before it look completely pointless.
Prim's death
Quick reads huh? And a romance that is worth a damn, compared to Twilight at least.

Umbridge is awful but compared to that chick, she is an angel.

I'm a fast reader, and they were just incredibly addictive. Didn't help that Catching Fire ended on the cliffhanger from hell, good lord.
Spoiler:She should not have been there at all, no one should have allowed her to be there.
Oh man, Rue's death about killed me. Prim's was definitely worse, though, by a long shot.
Spoiler:
Coin kinda ****ed up that one big time though.
And yes, watching the romances start and progress and the fact that it wasn't "instant love happily ever after" was nice.
Spoiler:
Peeta being hijacked made me pretty damn uncomfortable, though; apparently I have some sort of phobia about things related to mind control and that was a bit too close for comfort.

Indeed. Also, why was it called Catching Fire? I never really got that. They really weren't trying to catch any of the fire characters.
I know right?
Spoiler:
Coin was smarter than that. She could have done something else to get Katniss out of the way. Killing her for one.
Hmm....well have you ever read City of Bones? I like it more than HG cause it has a very nice atmosphere that wasn't as odd. That and one of the characters is actually a great example of Nature vs Nurture. And the romance...the author is a sick ****.
And I'm sorry. I rather liked that part though, if only cause that is one hell of a conflict to throw up. Though that is an interesting phobia there and I can see why it would make you uncomfortable.

It was called Catching Fire because Katniss was the "girl on fire", and the
Spoiler:๐
spark to start the rebellion, which was starting to get off the ground during the novel
I'm actually kind of surprised she didn't. She didn't like Katniss and Katniss didn't like her, Katniss's role as the Mockingjay was pretty much done with at that point,
Spoiler:.
and very little suspicion would have falling on Coin if she had killed Katniss
I have not, and I don't intend to; the author is a fairly well-known drama starter and plagiarist.

I know that but it's not like they were trying to catch her or anything. ๐
But yes, I get it. Ah well, too later for her now I guess. Also, was it just me or did Peeta seem nearly borderline perfect except for the whole situation there at the end?
Oh....what is this? I love these things.
*reads the sporking*
Well that was not a very good sporking. Not compared to the Eragon one anyway. Still, will continue to read the series since I started. ๐

But to be fair, Morph was the throwaway character of the show anyhow. Prolly the most annoying character to be made specifically for a comic-based animated series that I've seen by far. He was just a male Mystique too, essentially. Didn't feel too bad when he got captured by Sentinels at the end of the first episode.

TBH, i thought the comics and the series were pretty close together (for what they adapted). Cyclops just went through a whole lost more horrible shit in the comics that wasn't referred to in the series, so I can see why he'd seem like more of a dick...

Haha, thanks. It's been a while, and I'm still probably gonna be spotty, but it is good to see things still going as they have been, more or less. Got an Xbox recently (yet no Bioshock, despite my admittance to fanonicity wit hthe series, go figure). How are you all?
Eh, it's cool. Good to know you're still alive and stuff at least. ๐
Just have finals next week, and then another job interview shortly afterward. Am kinda getting back on my feat again after getting in a car accident where my truck got totaled head-on a week or two ago (with a tire flying God knows how far), but I wasn't hurt in the crash, with the exception of my pride. My airbag didn't even go off either. lolol
That aside, how have you been?

Yay, somebody considers me nominally important. ๐
Good luck on the finals and interview, I'm sure you'll do fine. Interestingly enough, I was in a car crash of my own around the same time. Ended up knocking down a freeway sign and ruined the undercarriage of my parents' car. Uncanny, isn't it?

I know. The title refers to the rebellion starting and picking up speed and one of the lines that Snow said to Katniss - basically, Panem was "catching fire" ๐
I think that she didn't because if she had, everyone would have turned on her anyway, because Katniss was so well-known and loved.
And yeah, I think Peeta was a bit too perfect throughout the series...but then again, he was very much like Prim. Some people are just genuinely good and nice people. Which is what made it so jarring.

lol yes I know, and Katniss was the coal/spark. Not that Peeta wasn't as well but whatever. Fun fact: I live in the general area that Katniss does, so I was pleased.
Spoiler:
Until they blew up District 12 in the mother of all overreactions. O_o
Still, would rather have Haymitch become president than Katniss or Coin. Dude was awesome. My hero at least.
I think what sets them apart was Peeta being able to just kill people. Seemed like he could always set aside his good nature when needed, which for people like Prim, would be hard to do.
Spoiler:
Did Buttercup make you cry?
๐hifty:
Haymitch was indeed pretty awesome; I liked how he kept using Katniss's behavior against her. I don't think he would have accepted it if it was offered or he was elected, though.
True. But Prim was also a healer and was planning on training to be a doctor when she was old enough, so doing something like that was completely against her nature anyway.
Spoiler:
I mean, look at what she was doing when she got killed ๐
Buttercup was awesome. And while he didn't cry, his behavior when
Spoiler:was kind of upsetting. Who says cats can't be loyal and loving to their owners? ๐
Katniss found him after Prim's death and the cat clearly being upset about it

I liked him cause he was drunk. Which is exactly how I would be if I were him. And he wouldn't have, he'd want to stay home and be drunk. But still, he would deserve it. ๐
That and it might also be an age thing and an upbringing thing. Since she lived in a house where her mother helped others when they were sick(when she wasn't off her rocker that is) and what with her Father's death, it would make sense that she wouldn't be able to hurt anyone. Then again, Peeta was a baker. Not exactly the bloodiest of all careers. ๐
I thought he did cry? And wrong people, that's who! Which reminds me of an awful story from when I was a young lad. I had a cat that loved me and I tested its affection. I didn't hurt it or anything but I would always run and hide. Still found me cause it loved me that much. :3

Haha, yeah ๐
Spoiler:
Paylor was ultimately a good choice, though, I think.
True, but I also think Peeta's family wasn't the happiest one ever. And Prim hadn't exactly been faced with a situation of "kill or be killed" - Katniss saved her from that.
I meant to say "while I didn't cry", whoops. And cats are awesome ๐
I kind of would like to see more written in that universe - not after the series, but maybe before it, when the Dark Days happened.
