Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

Just finished replaying Final Fantasy 12. Game was not as bad as people say. Its actually fvcking fantastic. Its just Vaan and Penelo drag it down and the stoy is pretty emotionally distant until about 2/3rds in. Other than that its solid. And even Vaan and Penelo get pretty cool at the end I guess.

Though Balthier is the best leadig man in the series. Except maybe Zidane. the games fine as long as you assume either him, Basch or Ashe is the main character.

Edit: holy shit. Why the fvck is Just Cause 2 so god damn big?

It's perfectly possible to have large spaces that are full of detail, though. Games older than Oblivion do that quite well.

But to be serious, remember, Oblivion was made between 2004 and 2006, without full specifications for the console playform it needed to be on by a small company working with bargain-bin middleware.

Oblivion could have been bigger, sure, but the game did have a budget, and would likely have had to have been delayed to make it bigger.

What games older than Oblivion do that quite well?

Guild Wars is cheating there as it is sizing the entire map rather than the playable area. Much of the maps cannot be explored.

The game lost my interest when the best character died.

Vana'diel is bigger than anything from that link and Xenoblade's two worlds are apparently collectively the size of Japan.

Yeah, was awesome.

I couldn't tell you the species, just found it while camping and put it in a little aquarium, tossing in a cricket every now and then. Didn't really handle it, though.

EDIT: Most likely a Striped Bark Scorpion.
