To be honest, he should not have died, it was a mechanical fumble on the part of Shin and MG, the vampiress was a rogue, and got sneak attack damage. But as a barbarian with Uncanny Dodge, she should not have.
Anyway, purple is really only the result of a one-off joke Shin made via NPC (Do not wear the colour purple in the presence of the king) that I had Revan pursue out of srs bsns.

Also at one point I strong-armed the party into proceeding down a spooky forest into a spooky cabin which lead to a few of us nearly dying.
This is basically my contribution to the party. Getting us nearly killed and putting us in bad places. I have actively plotted to kill every and all members of the party, and have a plan to kill every party member personally. It is basically my job.
