[B]Blax we are all aware of your bad taste, no need to tell me.
They are redundant only if you are trolling, which you are. "Boring" to you equals "not relateable/human,"Where did I say this? That's not true at all.
Not popular? Are they as popular as the Imperium? No, of course not, no other faction is. But the Necrons, like every faction, has a signifigant number of fans as well.
Actually, they're so not popular that Games Workshop is overhauling them. That was what started this discussion, wasn't it?
Although humor me, what makes the Tau redundant?
Or, you know, because Lovecraft died at 41.Dan Abnett is 45 and has written 20 full length stories, age means nothing. It probably has more to do with the fact that The Call of Cthulhu was almost universally panned as a shitty story when it was first released, and like many of his works didn't gain popularity until decades later, after Liberal Arts major pseudo-intellectual hippies started to take notice them.
And Cthulhu didn't carry Call of Cthulhu with strength of character either but that is besides the point. It's besides the point because he didn't need to. It was a single short story that was designed to be a short story. He didn't need things like character development or other traits that typically benefit a major character.
He exists in several very popular spin-offs, and continues to be a popular character to feature in said spin-offsNone of these are related to one another. If you seriously think that appearing in a board game one day and a video game, etc. et all is the equivalent of being a character carrying a a book series, then I don't know what to tell you. And, lol @ "highly successful". Look who's being relative now.
There are three looming, enigmatic threats. How does this conflict with anything I've said?
The Imperium makes the bulk of their money, yes. Is that supposed to be something new to me?Well, you seem incapable of grasping the overarching point here, so I' assuming you're just being stubborn because you like Necrons and Cthulhu.
Perhaps you cannot appreciate cosmic horror in a faction, or just find the Necrons boring. That is fine, you're entitled to your opinion.
I'm looking at it from the perspective of a for-profit company trying to make money, not from the perspective of some college student who thinks he's sophisticated because he knows what thematically means. I'm being facetious of course. However, my personal opinion hasn't even been factored into this yet. Everything I've said so far is based upon objective fact.
But don't tell me that something inherently is wrong with the Necrons just because you find them to be boring. Plenty do not, and changing their entire faction, retconning everything about them, completely alienates the fanbase, as well as several now established facts of the setting, and a few novels too. Nightbringer, for instance. If the Necron fanbase was so large that changing the Necron fluff and alienating their fanbase could be troublesome, Games Workshop would not be doing it.

Still better than a lot of the other shit we get on TV today though. Heroes looked all right when I saw it for a bit a couple times, but wasn't interested enough to watch the whole series.
Heroes had flair without substance, yeah. Effects to make you watch an episode, but not enough story to tune in next week.

Seems to be the case. Probably why I never went out of my way to tune in to the next episodes.

Funny, considering Games Workshop doesn't give a shit about the fanbase either way.
Considering how Ward's been given the Codex for Black Templars, a fairly popular faction, and given Ward's past treatment of non-Ultramarines, especially since he dislikes the Black Templars,...
Yeah, Games Workshop doesn't really care about the fanbase. Infact, the apparent direction of the Necron Codex is to make them more like Tomb Kings, contradicting their policy of 40k =/= Warhammer.

My entire ****ing point is that Gamesworkshop doesn't care about the fanbase. They care about making money. Ergo, emotional appeals like "doowd think of the fanbase!" and "but Necrons have depth and cosmic themes!" are pointless. It's the same hard lesson that Resident Evil fans must one day learn.
So, giving your codexes to a guy everyone hates and butchering your backstory and fluff, and going against your policy to make a race a Warhammer in Space faction, somehow creates more money?
Okay. Whatever you say bro.

Ewwww, that movie.
Agree on Heroes and Lost sucking.
Buuuuut then again I don't really watch TV either, and we did already agree that we're not going to waste money on cable when we move in together 😛
Been listening to this a lot lately.

IT WAS AWESOME.And I have not judged these movies lightly just cos I'm a fan of the books. If anything, that fact makes me more critical of them.
It WAS really AWESOME.
Like, I was like, shocked at how good it really was. 😐
I didn't think it would be bad, but it was AMAZING.
