Actually its pretty clear to me that Loghain allowed the tower to be taken by the darkspawn. If you go to it before the battle his forces have barracaded the entire place off and are 'exploring tunnels beneath the tower' (you'd think the 'tactical genius' would be somewhat aware that the thing which his entire plan hinges upon has a vast network of tunnels beneath it that the darkspawn could obviously use). Theres also the gigantic hole in the ground which the darkspawn obviously came through, which I highly doubt they missed as well as the tower already being covered in darkspawn decorations.Loghains plan basically hinged on the signal not being set off so he could realistically say that he didn't support the king because the signal wasn't lit and the signal wasn't lit because the Wardens who were sent to light it were traitors. When it is lit he panics and orders a retreat anyway no matter how guilty it makes him look (a hell of a lot).
If they lost? Who the hell says they would have? Despite Loghains purposefully bad tactics (yes, run out of a bottleneck, that'll end well ๐ ) they were doing fine and if Loghain had actually charged their flank they would have won by my reckoning. What makes you think they would have lost at all?
The Warden only fought stragglers and such. The video on the last page (or one before that) shows how massive the horde is. Like shit 4 people could take that.
You can't tell me whether they would have won or lost if he decided to back the King and charge into battle. Loghain still can be a hero in the end and making it one of the shortest blights ever.
The horde isn't together unless they are being summoned by the archdemon. My whole argument was arguing about eradicating the darkspawn without an archdemon present.
