He's not an idiot he was just ignorant in this regard as most people in ferelden are except the wardens themselves.
Loghain can aid them so despite all your boohooing they still overcame the blight in record time. So quit being a drama queen and acting like Loghain doomed them to eternal darkness because as far as blights go this was a walk in the park.
The dwarven race isn't a massive army like wha you put together when you march against them. If you send an army like that against the scattered darkspawn you'd annihilate them in small groups. To think otherwise is ridiculous.
