I like Spider-Man 3. ๐ฎ
No matter what one says, this scene is amazing.
'Kay that scene was alright. But how could you like the film?
I see this dance in my nightmares ๐

Why do you really care what some internet reviewer thinks of a movie? Just ignore it and move on with your life, it's really not a big deal.
BUT THEY'RE WRONG!?

That scene was funny. It was meant to be funny. So it worked. ๐ฎ

Nope.
Him in the suit is, yeah. But the scene itself was supposed to be a funny one, to contrast with the later scene where he smacks Mary Jane.

You mean the scene just after his gives us a little jazz number?
Si. After such a silly scene, such a serious tone hits the audience in the face just like Pete's slap to Mary Jane. We saw him do bad things and acting quite unlike normal Peter, but his victims were villains in a sense so that was okay. The scene where he slaps MJ is the scene where Peter and the audience realize, this has gone too far.
Now, whether that works or not is up to the individual. I can easily see why people would have a hard time getting over that scene. I don't because I understand how fiction land works though. ๐
People take accidents to heart. Especially in regards to their loved ones. Sure, the suit didn't make him slap MJ. But, without the suit, he wouldn't have been so aggressive at the bar to the point where it happened. Whether it was an accident or not, he hit her so hard she got flung to the ground. Thinking about it from an in character perspective, Peter could have killed Mary Jane. He's certainly got the strength.
The old Peter would never have been involved in such a situation, at it goes to the point of the scene: The Suit is changing Peter. Sure, this accident wasn't so bad. But what about the next one? Or the one after? One can't take chances like that.
