I do have to say that so far I'm impressed with all the new elements and the traveling is actually fun instead of tedious.

Yeah. It's different from TP, which felt like a giant rehash of old elements. SS keeps a lot of the good while changing things up and adding NEW good. I love it.

Hi.

And that's that ๐Ÿ˜›

Just kidding! Nice seeing you too. It has indeed been a while, though I have been back occasionally. I have a new MSN though, and I failed to remember your e-mail. Add mine if you want to chat later on ([email protected]) ๐Ÿ™‚

Glad to see that post you made earlier wasn't actually directed to me. I didn't feel like replying to it. estahuh

You made a new MSN and did not add me right away!? I am like, so offended right now. cry

Hm, hi indeed. ๐Ÿ˜› Added you, will talk if I catch you when you're awake.

If Skyward Sword had a dick, and you happen to bend over right by it, would you open a door to enter a building within the next ten years?

The problem with the "small things like having to pause to select a new piece of equipment", is that it removes the sensation that you are going forward. At least for me it does. I can be completely in the zone during a quest or cave, be completely in the mood that the game often so vividly bring you into, and all of a sudden have to press Q because it is necessary that I switch to a Firespell, or healing, or I have to drink a potion. A small thing like having the game still run while you select your new piece of equipment or spell, would make me regard that specific system so much higher. But it freezing just because my character reaches into her pocket? I don't like it. At all. The show should go on, as it would if it had not been a game. What life the great world has so fluently provided is lost in that pausing effect. To me.

The dialogues, they are many, there is a great deal of chatting and talking, and you get to extract information fairly well, but you never get much choice. You can either bring this guy, or you can leave him. You can accept to retreive the wheel for that cart, or you can decline it. I for one did not want to co-operate with Blades, but that choice was not given me. While that would normally not bother me in a game, in one where you are supposed to have so much power of your future as Skyrim, it disappointed. But as I've already mentioned, my expectations are higher than reason ask for. Though that is true for all games. Very few games gain a high score from me.

As for rating it 5/10, I do not consider 5 a harsh grade. It is true that it lets you do things few other games even try, but there is also the opposite. It is lacking A LOT of things that other games offer. I am utterly amazed at how alive the world is, but utterly disappointed at how lacking I consider the rest of the game.

5/10 though, to me, is not a bad score. It is right in the middle. It is not good, and not bad. It is what it was sent out to be, and it was nothing for me. It is a good game, I am big enough to acknowledge that, but it is not a good game for me. It is however not a bad game and therefore does not get less than 5. The things that Skyrim has, are amazing. I love how you maneuver in combat, I love the experience system and I love the world. That is however, to me, not sufficient to give a better grade.

As for this amazing dialogue system that you speak of, I can not see it.

You have to stop to change your abilities in all those games. I cant belive you just went through diablo without stopping to change anything with the setup of your character, you always have to stop. Same with Dragon age even more so. Infact assuming your ever in threat of death, Diablo only has a few pots on the belt meaning your forced to stop if you want to change your potions which could be every few minutes.

Well its the same again in all games, you cant decide to just tell the Dwarves to get lost in Dragon age can you? you have to go down into the depths and beat Caridon or w/e his name is or join him, thats pretty much your choice there. OR, join the elves against the werewolves or join the wolves once you realise their just elves transformed or w/e. Its imo unfair to judge a game based purely on expectation when no other game does the same, I mean I expected Dragons to come down and destroy buildings in the NPC cities or to be able to transform into a dragon just because it would be cool but theres always limits to a system .

So far you have mentioned things you do not like that the other games are not that great at though, the only thing I see that you could dislike is its not scripted but I thought everyone enjoyed getting off the tracks and doing what you want to do.

Alright, Skyward Sword is AWESOME. Holy ****, what?

Seriously, anyone else playing this?

I almost can't believe it. This plot is going places. ๐Ÿ˜

Yes, and it's so awesome. Its torturing me that I have to work tonight.

How far are you? I'm a bit past three dungeons in. Some shit that's happened man. I can't wait to get farther. The suspense is killing me. I'm still running on 2 hours of sleep I got the other day before I picked up Skyward Sword, can't sleep. Head spinning.

Oh shi-! I can't get past the tutorial, not cuz I suck, it's becuase everytime I turn the game on, the phone rings and I basically lose the whole day. Waitin' to ask for the day off, cuz I have this, skyrim, forza 4, shinobi and Halo 1 on my to-do list. Knowing me and how they percieve me at work, instead of calling in with a slight fake cough, I'll just call tomorrow and say: "Yeah, f*ck you" Done it before and so far so good. If it were anyone else, they'de be so fired, but when I do it, it's cute and they say stuff like: "Oh, Glenn Baby, you so crazay!" You'de think that'd be a good thing, but it isn't sometimes, it makes insulting very hard cuz everything thing I mouth-fart comes off as a compliment.

I type alot of stuff when I'm sleepy, heehee... Technically speaking then, high school should've been as easy as pie then...

Unfair? It is MY opinion. How can you call my opinion, my personal score on a game, based on personal gaming experiences and gaming preferences UNFAIR? I have given Skyrim credit where credit is due. I am not biased or hateful, I am simply mindful of my preferences.

The reason I at all bring up the things I dislike in the manner that I do, regarding Skyrim, is because the game is for me lacking something that only things that I feel should be there would contribute to making it an enjoyable experience. The switching between gear and spells matter that I complained at, I complained at because I felt that the game was lacking in that aspect. I did not enjoy the combat system, primarily for that reason, and I wrote of a desired alternative that would make me increase the score because it would raise my enjoyment.

And I am not sure what you are talking about regarding Dragon Age. Are you talking about skill distribution during leveling up? About upgrading gear when you aquire a better item? When I have played Dragon Age, I can have gone entire acts without having to do edits to spell choices. In Skyrim, there have times when I have had to switch spells several times in one battle. I sincerely hope you are not comparing the usage of abilities in Dragon Age, to Skyrim. I did so, but that's because Dragon Age is everything I want in combat (Though I'd love the 1st Person perspective from Skyrim for Dragon Age. Would be amazing)

I have mentioned things I do not like, that the games I have mentioned ARE good at. No game is good at all of the things I want to see in Skyrim. When it comes to Diablo 1, I hate the ability system and your maneuvering. When it comes to Dragon Age, I dislike the way terrain limit you. In Prince of Persia, I wish it was harder, but I appreciate the form of challenges it provide.

And that's part of an issue I have with the game, your last line there. You can't do what you want to. You can do a lot, but only when it does not matter. You can go where you want, take what you want, kill almost who you want, but you can't refuse to do criminal acts and act ignorantly on behalf of Blades, despite actually knowing better. Despite having actually learned previously in the game that what you are going to do is a waste of time. And as you are doing it, you get plenty of reasons to distrust the ones you are working for, but end up without the option to actually express or act on your distrust, despite the story having actually provided you information that make your partners untrustworthy.

I know why I do not like Skyrim. Stop behaving as if I do not know what I am talking about.

I agree with this part here. For all the games good at there's not that much choice involved with the other characters. Which is disappointing.

I know why I do not like Skyrim. Stop behaving as if I do not know what I am talking about.

Its unfair because your judgement is based on things the games you hold highly are not really that great at either or judging it on things few games have succeeded in, if any.

Concerning Dragon age, every time you get a new ability or such you have to pause, put it on the hot bar etc. If your complaing that Skyrim did not have a hot bar then I agree, but if your saying Skyrim made you pause too often then I would say thats harsh considering if you do not have your characters in DA doing something you need them doing, you have to pause to move them, this is true if youve played on the hardest settings, characters are not always doing what they need to be doing. If anything, on harder settings you need to pause and manuelly tell invidual characters to do certain things just to survive.

But none of them have the vast choice and world Skyrim has do they, this is unique to skyrim however the scripted storyline in the games you mentioned are not unique.

It seems to me your only complaint is you wanted to do something against the blades, thats all. Can you explain exactly what this was? in spoilers if need be please.

Well most of your complaints you can remedy or are harsh, your saying you do not like Skyrim because of X, then go on to mension a game you like that also has this problem even more so.

BT I'm one of the biggest Elder Scrolls fanboys on the site and I'm not bothered by Q's opinion of Skyrim (Which is IMHO the best game I've ever played) like you seem to be.

Come on gai. Don't do this gai. Don't be that gai gai.

I dont know why, but I was bothered by the opinion. I feel almost compelled to defend Skyrim.

stfu, man.

Why? I have not said it is a bad game. In fact, I have said it is amazing at what it set out to be amazing at. Is it even possible for a game to receive a better grade than that?

You do not seem to have understood any of the things I have said. I do not see how continuing to say them will change that, so I will simply not do so.

I will make one last try on the last point: The games I listed were not all better in the listed aspects that Skyrim failed at. Some games was better at telling a story, other games were better at developing a identity for your character (By actually at all allowing an identity), some games had better combat controls, some were more challenging and other games treated you as a unique player with unique philosophies with far more respect. Some games were better at allowing progress, and other games were simply lacking less than Skyrim.

To put it simple: Most, if not all of the games I listed gained a higher personal score than Skyrim by me. I imagine it long since I gave a game less than 5/10, or at all played a game that bothered me as much as various aspects of Skyrim did.
