So as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations for Legend of Zelda, a seemingly official book from Shogakukan, NoJ's publisher, called Hyrule Historia has been released. It contains a multitude of art and noted for the entire series, as well as a "History of the World" section that, apparently. reveals Nintendo's official timeline at last.
Personally I will be waiting for more people to translate the book, since quick translations are notorious for errors, but at the moment it seems like according to Nintendo, OoT branches off... into three timelines. The third results from Link failing to stop Ganon, leading into the Imprisoning War and ALttP, the Oracle games, Link's Awakening, and Legend of Zelda I & II.
This is interesting, if it's true. I'd never considered a third timeline dependent upon a Link failing.

isn't that basically what happens after OoT anyway? ganon is imprisoned and Adult Link goes back... but then when Ganon escapes there is NO LINK to stop him in that timeline.
Originally posted by CynerThis sounds like a theory NemeBro and I have discussed extensively. mmm Neat.

Also, kinda grimdark. haermm The series has been steadily slanting in that direction on and off ever since OoT came out.
Edit: Quoted wrong guy, meant to quote GK.

Yeah, that's not what this new third timeline is.
More like if Ganondorf had killed/defeated Link when they faced each other.
More importantly to me though...various concept arts of Zelda from the different games. Apparently in OoT, in the artwork at least, she has red hair! I quite like that fact 😄 In fact she seems to be a redhead in about half of her incarnations according to that artwork.

I am totally going to have to cosplay SS Zelda. That outfit reminds me so much of Malon <3
Double posting but it can't be helped. Damn 15 minutes.
I considered putting this in the Skyward Sword thread but decided against it.
Edit: Looks like Neph already did. Like an hour ago. Yay for me I guess.
