It is basically next to impossible to find any sort of job right now.

My sister moved from 'Frisco to Sacramento to get away from the ridiculously expensive standard of living in the California bay area, spent 6 months there looking for a job, failed to find one, got evicted from her apartment, moved back here, and got a job as a secretary making $18 an hour after less than two weeks searching.
The job and housing market here never really "crashed", per say. Granted, San Francisco hardly represents the norm.
