EA's stocks dropped for a while, too, because of it having not sold as much as they it wanted to.
With an MMO, day one sales are basically meaningless (unlike most games, where day one sales are king). What matters is how many people keep playing, and usually you can't start measuring that until about three months on. That's where you measure how successful it's been - how many long-term players/subscribers it has. Not how many people bought it and played for the free month.
A lot of the people I know who have it have already quit, because there's little to do past hitting the level cap.
GW has been out for years. TOR has not been out for a year, and is already over about a fourth that.
It seems very obvious that TOR will surpass GW, and it already has surpassed it in quality, not like that is particularly difficult.
