Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

Battlefront is ****ing awesome. Sure as hell more fun than...basically any Bioware game ๐Ÿ˜›

Also, Westwood and Maxis were actual innovators when it came to games...unlike BioWare, who went "Let's make a D&D game" and then has not strayed from that style of game ever. They just took a game style that'd been popular for a decade already and added nothing to it.

Opinions. estahuh

I'll give you Westwood for innovation, but Maxis gets points taken away from it for doing the exact same series of games, asides from Spore, for as long as it's been active. ermm

I don't understand all this Maxis nonsense though, EA got control of Maxis way back in 1997, before they even made the first The Sims game, and as far as I know, Maxis isn't dead yet.

Though I don't need something to be innovative to have a good game.

Sim City, Sims, and Spore are all incredibly different, and it wasn't until EA got their hands on Maxis that they started churning out expansion after expansion - EA essentially ruined them because EA is a bunch of money-grubbing bastards.

And no, but to say that a studio that has contributed nothing new to the industry is better than studios that did innovate and contribute a lot is just a fanboyish lie.

That's a shame you can't even remember that, as recent as that was.

Pandemic better than Bioware? Lolwut? What Bioware excels at to a level infinitely greater than any of those companies barring MAYBE Westwood is writing.

What they excel best at is mediocrity and remaking the same game repeatedly, though. They are not original in anything they do, by any stretch of the imagination.

How they handle the DLC for ME3 is going to likely be what makes or breaks them to most of their fans. Even though EA will likely push their hand and ruin another developer.

So am I allowed to insult your taste, or am I only allowed to do that to Moo? Bioware generally does indeed range from "okay" to "pretty good at best" in terms of their gameplay, but the writing is almost always excellent. Also, no, they don't remake the same game repeatedly. Mass Effect and Dragon Age are much different, to use two current examples.

Dragon Age is just a mmo stripped of its multiplayer aspects and really just a rehash of BG and NN. Mass Effect while being different is just a gears of war lite clone in space and a story that was ripped off a doctor who and star trek episode. Execllent writing doesn't mean shit if all you do is rip off plot aspects of your previous game.

What the **** am I reading in this thread?

You can take any ****ing video game concept and strip it down so that it resemble another game. Any game. That's not a good argument at all. "Hurrr Bioshock's just Halo with more special abilities hurrr durrrrrr Final Fantasy X is just Final Fantasy 7 with a different battle interface and better graphics hurrr derpa derpa derp". My grandmothers got Alzheimer and she can make a better argument then that.

How is Dragon Age an MMO? Its nothing like an MMO, lol.

Yes, Bioware has some problems. Show me a developer who doesn't. Their writing is still a cut above the rest.

3 Words: Toonami is back. =D

Crap....April Fools day. ๐Ÿ™

Oh my god Blizzards taking the piss out of Bioware. haermm

'Multiple endings, each influenced by your choices and color-coded for your convenience! (Further epic endings planned for post release as downloadable content.)'

drylaugh

Also Adult Swim is doing a Toonami block starting off with a review of Mass Effect 3 and a block of classic shows where horrible things happen or death happen to main characters.

I didn't believe this line of reasoning for years. I thought everyone that whined this was just a video game hipster that raged at big game studios because they wanted "indy" games like most hipsters of any hobby.

But then...I started seeing the points. What was being said of EA was matching up to their actions. Slowly, I came around.

I now recognize that big video game business is overproducing recycled shit like any contemporary pop music or movies.

There's no hope when even I am convinced to not like what big business tells me I should like.

Yep. But apparently it was only for April Fools day. Sux.

Calling it now, the mole in Young Justice is Superman.

Phanteros, I will respond to your gaming hipster delusions when I can post on a proper computer rather than my PS3.

wtf is this?

Firstly, I don't see how Dragon Age is anything like an mmo, and lol.

Halo is just a rehash of Marathon. The Fallout games are just rehashes of each other. Dark Souls is just a rehash of Demon's Souls. Heavy Rain is just a rehash of Indigo Prophecy. Give me a break.

Also, yelling SIMPSONS DID IT, even if correct, is not an argument.

And that chart, while hilarious for being a redundant cherry picker, fails due to DA2 soundly averting many of those.

So that's why I saw Yu Yu Hakasho so early in the morning?

Aww....man ๐Ÿ™

New World Computing was 2x better than all the shitty "studios" combined mentioned in the last two pages.

Spoiler:
I never thought being a hipster would be so... erotic.

Green Lantern is turning out to be as good as Young Justice. Bruce Timm obviously hasn't lost his touch.
