Sonic anniversary: gets a smash hit game that celebrates what makes him awesome. Brings old fans and new fans together and fixes the mistakes of the past. Game is available on most major consoles and doesn't shit on the character.
Megaman anniversary: a shitty cross over that has doesn't celebrate what makes the character awesome(instead you get a rpg). doesn't let you play as the either versions of the blue bomber, forcing you to collect(assuming you can't play as him) them as you go. social game at best. only available for iphones and Ipads.

Garriott had the life-long dream of going into space, and did a bunch of cool stuff while he was up there. But while he was in space NCSoft (the guys publishing GW2) took the opportunity to forge his signature on a number of documents. They then used those forged documents to go and sell all of his stock in the company off and announce that he's "resigning" from a controlling role in the company, effectively retiring as a result.
13 days afterwards they announced that they would be shutting down Tabula Rasa btw and blamed it on him. Garriott was the Executive Producer for Tabula Rasa. Remember that MMO? It seems that's why it was shut down.
This isn't just supposition, Garriott took them to court and won a 28 million dollar lawsuit. Its just.... thats something you'd see in a freaking movie. They forge documents while a man's in space to force him out of the company and shut down his game. Its bizarre. They're practically Saturday morning cartoon villains.
They've also tried to sue TERA just because TERA was stealing their Lineage subs. They admitted that's why they tried to sue them. They were terrified of it dominating the market over here. So instead of releasing a competing product, they decided it would be easier to sue the crap out of the company and try to tie the release of the game up in the courts until the developing/translating company ran out of money.
It didn't work though, the TERA developers had a statement by one of NCSoft's attorneys/representatives plastered on their front page, saying the only reason they were suing them was because they were trying to bully the competition to death. So yeah fail.
Hell, from that and Garriott suing the pants off them they really are saturday morning cartoon villains!
