Theres this thing called New Sincerity. The idea is that MLP is an example of this because its so free from irony and unabashedly fun. Thats one of the main reasons I like it. The show is just fun without being cynical about it. Its also why I like Adventure Time so much. Very similar shows in terms of tone imo.
But back on topic, yeah, its noce to have something thats fun and makes me happy to watch.
