So I want to get into the Discworld series. But there is a problem. It is forty ****ing novels long. Continuity lockout much?
Where is a good starting point, or are there certain books that don't connect with each other that much, or anything!? NEED HELP FROM READERS.
Discworld consists of several series that don't overlap much beyond minor roles, cameos, and nods. They're all in the same world, and there are quite a few main protagonists who live in the same city that have never met face to face. Basically if you read one series you don't have to pay much attention to any of the others, but if you do you'll recognize a character here and there and some jokes might be funnier on a reread.
First book period is The Light Fantastic, and I believe it also starts the Wizards series. The first of the Witches is, iirc, Wyrd Sisters. First of the Night Watch is Gaurds, Guards! and so on. There's also a series focused around DEATH and friends, and he shows up in pretty much every single book. I don't recall which book starts the DEATH series, but I think it's Mort.
My favorite is the Night Watch, if anyone cares. Medieval crime drama, yay.
