I do get annoyed, though, when people bring up the case of the lady suing McDonald's when she got burned by the coffee because she actually had a legitimate complaint.

Pretty sure I know more about how and why KMC is growing than you do, considering that I joined at the start of the huge influx of new members and thus have been witnessing it for four years now.

Yeah, some of them are just stupid, one that does my nut is the woman who had no time to dry her dog, so she put him in the microwave. Naturally the poor thing explodes and she sues the microwave for not telling her that would happen.

People leaving KMC really does not have any effect, though. More people join in a day than leave.

I hope you're not going by the number of registered users. You'd be surprised by how many people who just register so that people can't take certain usernames (found this out myself when I tried to see if certain usernames were already taken). The reason I know is because I checked the profiles of these users; they had 0 posts.
