Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

I would say:

1. Developer quotes
2. official character descriptions/information
3. true cinematic cut scenes (as opposed to cut scenes using game graphics)
4. Game graphic cut scenes
5. Game play
6. Player math ๐Ÿ˜‰ .....joking...the first 5 are my line up

This is a High-Res video:

This is a cutscene:

The only difference is graphics.

It's easier to tell details apart and what's a flash of light in one might be far more clear in another. Take that elf feat for example. She absorbs the Manawyrm. If that would be done in cutscenes, she'd make a quick gesture and the Manawyrm would fade away. It's clearer what's happening in a High-Res. That's why I trust them more.

Maybe if it was done on a NES. ๐Ÿ˜›

No, I was talking World of Warcraft there ๐Ÿ˜›

On the other hand, you can argue that high-res videos are designed to look flashy and cool and many not accurately present how something is actually meant to look.

You know, I really cannot get over just how bad the graphics in that game are...

That's true. But in at least a Warcraft case, a High-Res video at least shows the true duration of a spell, rather than in-game casting time in the cutscenes ๐Ÿ˜„
High-Res probably has its ups and downs. You guys have a point there. I simply think a High-Res video shows more clearly what's happening.

๐Ÿ˜ Agreed. Bad. Understandable why it is, but still ... bad ๐Ÿ˜›

You know WoW's not the only thing out there, right...? ๐Ÿ˜›

I wouldn't really say it's understandable, to be honest. I mean, I play GW, which came out only six months after WoW did. It just celebrated its fourth birthday (which was fun). And the graphics in that game are great, despite the age and the fact that it's not resource-heavy ๐Ÿ˜›

She doesn't even play WoW.

I know ๐Ÿ˜› I mostly debate Warcraft and Star Wars, so in my book is a High-Res way better than a cutscene. I live a boring life: Star Wars, Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, The Sims, Neverwinter Nights and only a few other games.

Blizzard can do better. We've seen them able to. The current requirements for WoW are pretty low though, and they want to keep it that way. At least that's my guess mmm

I tried GW once. I didn't even get out of the starting area before I was bored ๐Ÿ˜›

Can't afford it. Even if I could, I have better things to do ๐Ÿ˜› All I do is watch WoW videos on youtube and warcraft movies ๐Ÿ˜„ That's my dose of it.

So am I, probably more-so than you.

Heathens and heretics, heathens and heretics...

It's kinda sad. I probably know more about WoW than most that play it ๐Ÿ˜ More than most that has played it for years ๐Ÿ˜›

I'm not even really a fan of Warcraft and I know more about WoW than most that play it.

Most of WoW does not know a thing about lore from my experience.

SIMS!

I can't wait until Tuesday so I can get Sims 3. We got the copies in at my work a few days ago and they've been sitting there in the back teasing me...

Also, I loooooove SW but dislike most of the games and most EU in general.

And understandable. Chances are you played Prophecies, the first Guild Wars game. I'm not a big fan of that one; it's very slow and pretty boring at first. I just beat it, and once I finish the remaining early missions I skipped (by playing a character from another campaign) and finish mapping I probably won't go back unless I'm doing the elite dungeons or vanquishing.

True. Most of WoW players know only epix.

Sims is awesome ๐Ÿ˜„ I have a tendency ending up cheating though ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Star Wars is absolutely awesome. The movie era is the best one, but I also like the Old Republic era. The KotOR games I liked and I'm honestly considering the TOR MMORPG. Never been much for EU outside TOR and the movie era. I don't like Luke Skywalker at all. Especially not after the movies ๐Ÿ˜›

Don't know which I played. It was a couple of years ago. I don't remember much more than a big field I ran around on ๐Ÿ˜›
