Damn you're annoying. You make Cowgirl not seem crazy, but heck, her coolness covers it up.

I dont mind, he's just debating who he think'll win. dont worry bt, i got your back hug

awww, my eyes are going to well up 😛

And a real fanboy wouldnt really do anything to debate, he would just enter and state every 5 posts his favourite character is the winner.

Not true.

How so? although thats my opinion of it so its not really up for debate.

If someone was a real fanboy to be worthy of the derogatory term this forum usually seems to use it for, then they wouldn't even care to change anyones opinion, they wouldn't care enough to make a post defining why, to a real Fanboy/girl their character wins, plain and simple, they dont have to bother saying why or how.

I think theres a difference between just being a fan, and being a fanboy/girl, personally I use the latter name for the person I describe above.

Fanboy is a derogatory term used to describe someone who is utterly devoted to a hobby or a subject, to the point where it becomes an obsession. Fanboys are often experts on minor details regarding their hobbies, and they take these details extremely seriously.

That's the term and I wouldn't bother debating against it. It's the official Webster definition.

It's quite interesting how many on this forum that fall into the fanboy definition when you take particular parts of that quote in consideration 😛

You?

Okay, Activision can go screw itself. It's gonna sue the developers of Brutal Legend to halt the release. They're doing this because when they realized BL is going to be a major hit, they should've published it but were too late to do that. Since they didn't make it in time to publish it, they're suing the heck out of Tim Schafer and his developer buds. What a bunch of retarded morons. No way in heck will I wait for this game until November or December. Keep it in October Activision, or I'm not gonna buy any of your future Guitar Hero games.

I dont care what webster says, i would reather go with his definition. Most of the people who are throwing these words around, i think you know who most of them are, are retarted. Thats all i have to say, there is nothing more i can do that would stress the meaning of that word enough to make me happy.

o yea, forgot to mention this... dj, a while back you said something about the valiant being gumachi. i found out he just got banned because of a sock, was this actually gumachi or were you just messin?

You mean it wasn't blatantly obvious he was Gumachi?

And you agree with whose definition of fanboy? BT's?

That's your opinion. Sadly for you, it's only that. Your opinion.
Call me crazy, but for some itching reason I trust Webster more when it comes to the English language than I trust you or Burning Thought.

(Fangirl) Yeah, to some extent.

Even without taking that gathering of words into consideration, I'd say that I am fairly bias at some points with some particular characters.
People expect more from the fanboy term than what it actually is, because of how it's lifted out as an insult in many cases.
People expect it to be this blind, unreasonable level of devotion to a character, event or exemplar. So when the true definition of the word is lifted out, it's rejected because of the common misconception of the word.

A fanboy in the Urban Dictionary is defined as fiercely loyal and steadfast to their opinion. Burning Thought is without a doubt a Kain fanboy, despite all of his attempts to deny it. The same apply to many others on this forum, I dare say even you (Ganondorf) included. ScreamPaste with Link and so on. Given my (In all modesty) detailed knowledge in Warcraft, I don't deny the fact that I am something of a Warcraft fangirl.

When Burning Thought brings up his opinion on the difference between being a fan and a fanboy, he is taking a defensive position because he interpret a fanboy as something negative (Because he much rather want to be seen as a fan than a fanboy). As do most on this forum (And in particular cases, it is intended and used as an insult), even though the nature of the word isn't at all offensive. Contruary to common belief, it's more of a compliment than an insult.

I don't necessarily agree with the webster definition, either.

Considering that the term fanboy/fangirl is slang, then a proper dictionary is not the best place to get a definition for it.

The Urban Dictionairy that Q'Anilia used is better for that purpose than Webster, I agree (For reason stated by Peach). I wouldn't call Webster wrong, though.
If you don't know your character in such detail that you can slither your way out of most debates, then you can't really be defined as a fanboy.

As the Urban Dictionairy brought up: Fiercely loyal and steadfast to their opinion.
To pull such a thing through, you require minor details, and any fanboy takes their own knowledge in those details and so very seriously. So I wouldn't call Webster wrong. I can stretch to inadequate.

Nah my own definition of a fanboy is better than all of them because I'm a mutha****in genius.
