oh, and from now on, I won't refer to "yahweh" as god. I will refer to him as Raging Orgasm

BRING IT ON, BITCHES!

what if "god" is the first word in a sentence? not that i give a shit about capitalisation, obviously...but...

God is a noun. The fact that the Christians weren't creative enough to comeup with a name for their god doesn't change this.

The best solution to this grammatical quagmire is to accept that neither christian or non-christian use of the word "god" deserves to be capitalized.

Well, FeceMan is right that the Christian god's name should be capitalized. Cause...well, it's his name. Of course I assume in most cases you could claim you were just talking about the metaphysical concept of that god who is called God and be grammatically more or less correct.

Or you could just not give a shit.

Yes, but there is a reason why there is a correct spelling in the first place.

And what would that be?

To make ones meaning apparent.

or significant. God, He, His, etc are all useless grammatical, knee-bending to the christian concept of god. I have no problem with capitalizing his name, but this isn't his name. It's a title we gave a concept we created. Nothing more.

And that is what I am doing.

Well, that may be true, but it is used as his name now. Like you capitalize Allah or Rama or Zeus, "God" is capitalized when talking about the god it refers to.

No.

Raging Orgasm is my savior

No arguments here. As soon as the christian god drops me an email with his name in it, I'll start using capital letters when referring to him in writing.

yeah, because you were told it was his name.

JHWH is a vowel less word, Jews never used to write the vowels down.

It is the NAME of God, the same name which is aimed at in the lords prayer, "..hallowed be thy name.." Some translate it as Yahweh some Jehovah. Its meaning is probably"he he causes to become"
i יהוה
