I read the poem in high-school but I don't really remember it that well. Did anyone else have to read it??
I came across this today http://www.cinemablend.com/new/13-Beowulf-Clips-6875.html The clips are really bad ass, so stoked!!!

I wanted to see this until i found out it was cgi. I dont understand this movie. Why would you film a movie as though you are filming a live action movie and then go out of your way to make it look cgi?
I agree.
To me it's simply a massive waste of money, and to me personally it makes it less cool.
I probably won't see this film in theaters.
(PS: some of the screenshots remind me of Blizzard's cut-scene animation from Warcraft 3).
I don't understand why making it in full CGI would make it less cool. If anything the stimulating visual effect is going to be amazing, and unlike anything we have seen before. I have been reading a bunch of reviews on this and so far the consensus is that the movie is incredibly aesthetically pleasing! All I know is that Thursday couldn't come any sooner!

The character faces still look like mannequins. It's not real-looking enough.
The best way to use CGI is for things that are virtually impossible to realize in live action. Trying to imitate what a live-action actor can do...it still looks as fake as it was in FINAL FANTASY.
See I thought that it looked really realistic, I thought it really was Angelina Jolie when I first got a glimpse of a clip way back when. I just think the revolutionary film making is super captivating, and the fact that it is going to be in IMAX and 3D in CGI .. I mean come on.. and as for nudity.. Angelina is going to be completely naked.

I doubt they'll show CG nudity. They'll barely glimpse anything, and will work around her boobs.

Then you're easily impressed. Making unreal-looking characters, like Gollum or the Silver Surfer, come to life with motion capture tech excites me a lot more than watching characters who look like a cross between mannequins and soap stars; give me real flesh-and-blood actors. This look was unique when Zemeckis was doing 'The Polar Express' because he was trying to achieve the look of the actual storybook on screen. For this story it's pointless.
And for a female, you seem very excited to see Angelina Jolie naked. 😉
Just purchased tickets for tomorrow's the 7:30 Imax show for $11.50.
Damn, i haven't been to Imax since Matrix Revolutions but i trust this will blow me away cause it'll be in (digital) HD-3d. I think it'll be a hell of a visual experience watching it on an eye enveloping, stories high screen with the movie in C.G.I., as well.
I saw Beowulf last night at a special screening. Sometimes at my job we get special passes. This movie is awesome! I saw it in 3D, it was so kick ass. Here's my spoilers, and they are tame, so I won't really be giving any plot elements away if you want to read them.
Spoiler:
For those of you who want to see Angelina's CG boobs, they barely show some nipple, it's like as if gold paint is being poured down her body, but it really doesn't leave much to the imagination. She may as well have just been naked. The showdown with the dragon at the end is sick, one of the best action sequeces I've ever seen, it even blows away the scene in Two Towers where Gandalf falls into shadow fighting the Balrog. Another awesome scene is near the beginning; the camera pulls back from the townsfolk as they drink and party in some wooden building, the camera keeps pulling back further and further up a mountain as it gets quieter and quieter and you end up in a cavern where Grendel is scratching at his head so hard that it bleeds, it's totally disgusting and awesome in a creepy way that sets up the tone of the film's first encounter with Grendel.
And the 3D is sick, so don't see it unless it's in 3D, it wouldn't be as good IMO if it weren't in 3D, it adds so much to the experience.
