That's actually my thinking as well. Initially I thought Cap would destroy Potter, but after watching a few of the films, and reading over some recaps of the novels, apparently Harry isn't the pushover I thought he was, and .5 km is plenty of room for him to operate.
However, there is still the issue of tagging Cap with an attack, and apparently most of the spells in the Potter verse are directional attacks, so Cap could likely close the distance.

He can make a circle I guess around his body that will prevent Cap going H2H.
Sure harry can go on defence right away but his offence it the issue. he needs to aim for most of his spells. I am looking around for non aimed spells.

I'm not entirely sure. I don't know whether the vibranium/adamantium mesh has any anti-magic properties. I know of another metal 'adamantite' (D&D) that does, but I don't think adamantium is related to it.
Has Cap ever had to defend himself with it from a magical attack aside from the theoretical battle-to-the-death we're discussing now?
