True, that might make a difference, but we're given multiple comparisons by the author- comparison to 50x supernova, and comparison to a nebula. I doubt it's an baby one.
Coincidentally, there is nebulas 50 times the size of a supernova, and bigger.

There is just no way for Pa Kent to be able to differ between explosions larger than an atomic explosion. So he might as well have claimed that it was large enough to span a galaxy. The man is an old coot without any kind of logically conceivable way of determining the size. The entire story is narrated from his memory.

You're right, clearly it was intended to be the size of a firecracker a local park lets off on the 4th, even though the author gave us two distinct aligning comparisons in the story.

Ah, so you retreat into sarcasm then?

Because you simply have -no- way of proving that Pa Kent could accurately determine the size of that explosion. It's even worse than Spider-man's comment that Sentry was numbaaaa 1. The only thing one can possibly say for sure was that it was a big explosion.

Johns throws into the story two means of comparisons, but intended neither to be true?

Come on, Kris. You're heavily reaching here.

Yep. Johns threw out two means of comparisons in the story, but he intended for neither of them to be true.

Logic in its purest form.

Writer's intent doesn't always go well with what portrayed in the comics.

Just like the more recent incident of Flash saving a gazillion people.

That wasn't recent, if you're talking about the carrying the people away incident.

Was there something contradictory in this story, like in that one . .?

haha

I don't think there's much reason to doubt Pa Kent's words. I always took his words to be after-the-fact narration and Superman himself told him the magnitude of the explosion.

Remember, just a short time ago, Superman survived roughly 700 lightyear explosion of a sun eater, after having his power sapped away. And not only wasn't knocked out, but flew away mostly unharmed.
Pretty sure he was riding out the concussion wave of the supernova and never bore the brunt of it. Indeed, had he, he would have been incinerated by the wave of entropy. It was exactly why his Pa had to save him.

How?

Mangog plays Supes one on one in basketball and fly swats him into orbit

😂

For those who don't know Guy222, I am a Supes fan...He loses this fight

I don't see Mangog as stronger than Supes.

Superman at his best seems a lot lot stronger and just as durable. Mangog overpowering Thor "a little" doesn't butter my muffin since I don't regard Thor anywhere near the physical equal to Superman. The only thing that gives Mangog any consideration in beating Superman is his durability.

You have no idea about Mangog at all.
