You are missing parts of that fight. Alan saved Superman from Grundy and of course Superman would rock him afterwards, Grundy was taking on two elites. Before Alan showed up, Grundy had the advantage.

Also that was a year one superman, vastly weaker than the superman before the reboot.

Which is exactly what I said. Grundy had the advantage that entire fight until Alan intervened. You twisted that fight bro. Both Grundy and Superman grew in power. Hell, Grundy grew so much that he was capable of trouncing Bizzaro that had a team backing him up.
