Any opinions on the vs sections

I completed DOOM 3 on normal today...I was impressed by how I was able to complete the last few levels with very few amounts of ammo, all I had was a few rockets, some bullets, few shells (shotgun) and a few pulse blasts left in this weird gun that fires a huge blast which can kill some creatures with one shot...I had 25 grenades which came in quite useful 🙂
