You need to understand that Annihilus was weakened from taking Galactus' blast up close. A blast that destroyed several planets in the process. He was also attacked by Phyla before one shotting her. Even with his cosmic control rod, Annihilus is far stronger than heralds. He's one shotted Thor on several occasions and actually punched pieces off the thing WITHOUT his control rod.

It's also stated that he does have the QB for this fight.

Thanos was last seen walking around with Death herself. He may in fact be more powerful than ever before. For the purposes of this battle he is alive, as specified in the O.P.

The only way to walk around with her is becuz he's in her wrealm. I.E. Dead. And if you didn't get what i was doing, then you are slow on the uptake.

I know hes an Eternal mutant, but AFAIK his last power upgrade was given to him by Death, not due to anything else......
