Any reasonable Sentry fan would take it for what it was, Sentry is not powerful enough to tackle Hulk at his higher ranges.
Sentry is however able to comeback from the dead (as is Hulk) and he has more versatility than he utilised in the fight with Hulk.
Hulk however clearly was not even begging to tap into his own reserves of powers.

At the middle of the fight Sentry himself realizes he can't stop and the conversation implies Sentry wanted Hulk to calm him down.
Not only that we even have Rick James state this:
Miek: "What are you worried about Rick Jones? He cant kill the Hulk."
Rick Jones: "No just everything ELSE on the planet."
Which further indicates that the Sentry was losing control. Meanwhile Sentry while holding back against Genis Vell (Photon) during New Thunderbolt # 14 was apparently releasing enough energy to destroy entire worlds, while still holding back and we can see the planet below start to crumble while they are fighting.
So that Sentry going all out means very little, since I stated million times Sentry going all out=/=Sentry at his best.
When Hulk finally KOs Sentry, the first thing Sentry says is "Bruce... Thank you"

No one is even arguing against that World War Hulk didnt win that battle, but there is significant evidence that Sentry wanted to lose due to losing.
