There is no "attempted" suicide.You either genuinely want to go all the way or you don't. If someone genuinely wanted to kill themselves and reach death, they'd jump in front of a train, not do it in a way that could possibly not work.

Well, he may realize that whatever was making him sad, wasn't worth it later in his life. Who knows, he might just be thankful later.
unlikely, since if he has depression its going to make him worse and worse, its unlikely he will just forget whatever has made him sad and when he remembers it at a later date, likely if something else makes him sad he may try again
its just sad that someone has to stop him from the peacefulness of death, why is it such a crime for the poor guy to want to end his torment, they allow those people who are in physical pain or paralysed to be killed by doctors...why is it so diffrent when its mental, mental pain can be much worse
