For the past several events, many series and franchises have had issues that directly tie into an event. However the X-Franchise has been in its own corner of the world outside of a couple tangential mini-series. Will Secret Invasion see something similar happen or will core X-books actually swing into the Invasion fray?
Brevoort: The X-Men component of Secret Invasion will probably be in a dedicated limited series, rather than in the individual X- titles. There may be one or two exceptions to this, but that's the way it'll most often play out. And the reason for that is us trying to let each series and each writer do what they want to do and need to do in order to tell their own stories.
In the aftermath of Messiah Complex, there are X-Men plans that'll be in play all through the summer and well into fall. Rather than disrupt those plans and the realignment of the X-franchise, it made more sense editorially to build a dedicated limited series so that those characters could join in without it becoming onerous to the creative teams of those titles, or to the readership of those books.
The same thing is especially true with Spider-Man—given the thrice-monthly shipping schedule, and how far ahead we have to work to insure that three issues will come out every month, there really wasn't any workable way we could build a strong tie-in within Amazing itself. So you'll see plenty of Spidey in the main SI book, in New Avengers, and in a dedicated Spidey Secret Invasion limited series.
If anyone is a Skrull in the X-Men it might be Kitty Pryde. Maybe that's Joss's big relevation at the end of the AXM annual though that would suck in terms of all the development she's received. 😬 Her life to save the Earth makes this whole that theory unlikely.
