Keep 26 bowls (And get rid of that stinkin' Toronto Bowl 😛 ).

Isolate each BCS conference champ plus 2 At larges, for an 8-team playoff system, like you proposed. Each round 1 game will be either the Orange, the Sugar, the Rose, and the Fiesta. After those games are played, you are left with a 4-team playoff...even if it is a "Plus 2" system.

Look at it this way. LSU could have played in the Sugar Bowl this year if that were the case, and Ohio State in the Rose. They can keep their precious traditions and generate even more hype and revenue (from having bigger programs in the bowls instead of freakin' Illinois).

This year's 1st round games could have been this:

Rose: USC (Pac-10) vs. Ohio State (Big 10)
Fiesta: Oklahoma (Big 12) vs. WVU (Big East)
Sugar: LSU (SEC) vs. Kansas (At-Large)
Orange: Georgia (At-Large) vs. Virginia Tech (ACC)

Round 2 would have probably been this:
USC vs. WVU
LSU vs. Georgia
* The reason for this is to prevent two teams from the same conference from potentially meeting in the title game *

Title Game:
USC vs. LSU

National Champion: Trinity Tigers

I like it. Sounds good. You get it going...cool?

I wish that was a playoff system, that way they could get it right. However I doubt a playoff system will ever happen. If it did I'd be shocked.

I think Bot is on too something.

It keeps the prestige about the bowl games, and it honours the contracts of the networks also.

8 team playoff would be great. The BCS conference champions would get automatic bid with 2 at larges. I like it.

Sure, I'll make a few phone calls and get the ball rolling.

Actually, to prevent Oklahoma and Kansas from potentially meeting in the final as well, it would have to be structured like this. How cool would that Orange Bowl atmosphere have been?

Rd. 1
Rose: USC (Pac-10) vs. Ohio State (Big 10)
Orange: Virginia Tech (ACC) vs. WVU (Big East)
Sugar: LSU (SEC) vs. Kansas (At-Large)
Fiesta: Oklahoma (Big 12) vs. Georgia (At-Large)

Rd. 2
Rose vs. Orange
Sugar vs. Fiesta

Rd. 3
National Champsionship

Well national signing day was today. So pretty much everybody signed but the top recruit: Terrelle Pryor
Decided to hold off a little bit longer just to see who wants him more. Who do you beleive will get him?

Michigan

Thats where I think he's going, either Michigan or Ohio State. Probly Michigan because of the new Spread Offense and Rich Rodriguez. He would fit in perfect.

Terrelle Pryor choose not to say where he is going. He is keeping his options open. I think he may stay close to home so his father can see him play up close and personal.

Also props to the UCLA Bruins, they had a great day of recruiting. Watch out the Bruins may be something real fast.

Yeah, UCLA did do pretty good, the only thing that seems to stop them everyother year is injuries. But if they can stay healthy, I can see them doing some damage, sadly, as a USC fan.

Good the Big Ten finally got, albeit little, deeper. And USC is going to be a contender for many years to come as long as Carroll stays. Absolutely unbelievable recruiter.

Totally, he does what he needs to do to get who he needs to get.. Hopefully he sticks around, alot longer.

I liked the Brice Butler pick up. We've got these big and tall receivers who has questionable hands and only one speed burner that rarely got the ball thrown to him because of our conservative play calling. But Brice Butler is fast, has great hands, and runs the best routes I've seen out of a USC receiver outside of Steve Smith. He is a playmaker.
