oprah probably isnt a racist. she is a silly little woman who started off good but then got too full of herself. she believes she deserves special treatment, and is an authority over all psychological and socioeconomic problems. and most or all guests in her show and/or professionals{dr robin} are there to support her opinion and kiss her butt. shes also a hypocrite, simultaneously inviting and praising revealing popstars/destiny's child etc and at the same time doing shows on there being too much SKIN out there. she also turns a blind eye to the wrongs america is doig to the world and the human toll and has no problem believing the official statements of the government. a dum patriot is what im hinting at. thers also the contradiction between her rather staunch relegious beleifs of the lutherian/newborn church and her open mingling with liberal people and having aliberal lifestyle.
she is a billionaire and percentage wise, she doesnt do a lot of poor people a lot of favours by giving the miniscule amout of charity she does. angelina etc are a lot better. shes just a woman on a power trip with misguided views{im talking about the staunch feminist approach she takes and the types of feminism she sdhered to and how much she blames on men as opposed to family/social problems which arent truly patriarchal in nature}. and her support of obama IS probably because of his race.
but she isnt a raCIST per se'. in that, she doesnt hate the other candidates nor people based on race. shes a lot of thing but not a racist.
on a different note, oprah and dr phil are both oncredibly stupid and their absence on tv wud be better than their presence.

True, many people have brought themselves up from being extremely poor, but how many of them have been as successful as Oprah? Most end up as middle-class workers who make a comfortable living.
As far as I know, Oprah doesn't mention wars or anything controversial in her talkshows. She talks about domestic problems and how to help people around the world, most notably the hurricane Katrina victims. You may call this being a coward, but I see it as being an intelligent marketer. She would probably lose half her audience as well as huge amounts of publicity if she starts talking about not pulling troops out of Iraq.
Doctors and nurses are paid for their services. It's their job. Most of them do it for the money and couldn't care what happens to their patients after they are paid. The TRUE charity-workers that you mean, I think, are missionaries and volunteers who go to overseas to rebuild war-torn countries.
As far as I've seen, she treats all genders and all races equally. If she does treat whites somewhat poorly, she herself dealt with huge amounts of racism growing up, and she can't be blamed.
Like I've already said, her opinions are simple so they will catch on easier. No one wants to hear something so "deep" that 80% of the population can't figure out. Could you please clarify with me by what you mean by her statements being "generic"?

After about 2 years, my writer's block finally lifted, so I've been busy in short-story land. I'm gonna send it out to mags soon so I can begin collecting the next generation of rejection slips.
