We disregard the highest authority, to create the matches we want to see.
It's within Surfer's potential to harm Thanos, but if Thanos uses his powers the best he can, he would still take the majority.

Thanos knocking Galactus on his ass is hardly relevant. I didn't see any new universes being created as a result of his power expenditure - that means that the green lanterns will not be harmed by a similar blast.
And they could simply BFR thanos through the timestream, if they so desired.

I'm fairly sure Thanos can teleport under his own power. Time travel though? Not sure.
