All the same, Sentry doesn't have this power which was why the point was brought up in the first place. It also explains why he could not instantly stop the Hellicarrier alone... not that Superman would be able to stop it on a dime himself.
I wonder if anyone took that into account? Or was that one feat an attempt to discredit a new and unproven character?

Get that crap out of here.Superman has lifted and even tossed larger than a shield helicarrier with the utmost of ease.
Momentum is what I am referring to. Superman has been pushed back by less than a hurtling Hellicarrier. There was a Pod the size of a car that came from space with another Kryptonian on board (forgot the childs name) and it took Superman a while to slow it down to a complete stop.

Yea I think I'm going to push on this one for a little while.... because it kind of makes Superman inferior to The Sentry.
Hellicarrier>>> Space Pod ( The size of a van).
Did Superman stop the Space Pod instantly, or did he struggle for at least a mile to bring it to a full stop? Yes this was current Superman of less than a year ago.
Anyone have the Comic that this happened in? It was the first apperance of Chris Kent (Son of Zod).
I will warn you only once - do not misrepresent things. I have the comic open in front of me right this second (Action 844) .
Superman first comes into contact with the pod no more than twenty feet off the ground.
The pod isn't merely falling as the helicarrier was. It was moving so fast that it was ablaze.

Those pods were moving fast enough to break out of the Phantom Zone. durorangehulk
I give Superman the close edge...but only due to established feats over the newer Sentry.
I must say though, Sentry seems on many levels to be Clark's Superior...He has shown to be a virtual physical match for Supes in speed, and his strength feats match Clarks as well.
Most every pure feat of physical strength I've ever seen from Superman has assistance from his flight/inertia....not raw physical power.

Please point me towards these speed/strength feats you speak of.
I can quite nearly guarantee that they don't match Superman's

My friend, you're the one that just a post or two ago claimed that Sentry's feats match or exceed Clark's. The burden of proof lies with you.
Not when my point clearly states Superman's feats are mostly inertia based.
Both characters have been CLEARLY described as having extremely high unknown limits to their abilities.
So both have feats....which is why If you read my post, I said I'd give the edge to Superman. BUT...There is no evidence in either's history to prove one is stronger than the other physically.
But Sentry still displays potential to be his superior....in time. He doesn't have superman's weaknesses....regardless of whether or not Superman is growing more resistant to them.

your warning has been taken into consideration, has it intimidated me, as I suppose it may have been meant to? Nope!
Just making a point, I am well aware of how the pod came into the universe. Sentry like Superman needed time to stop the falling object, so let's not get off point.
If Sentry was given half a mile to stop the Hellicarrier which had to weigh in the area of 100,000 tons or more (much larger than the pod), I am pretty positive that he would have done so (a huge feat within itself).
My point is that Superman too would have been pushed back attempting to stop it (Hellacarrier). You chose to ignore velocity and momentum to suit your argument as did many, but when it's turned around and pointed back at you, you make excuses.
Terrax hit Sentry with more power than he did when he destroyed a planet, and all Sentry did was smile... anyone want to guess what kind of force it would take to destroy a planet? You see how easilly the same BS can be turned around?
At best Superman would beat Sentry but I think that Sentry could beat Superman as well on any given day. Superman is an organic battery... Sentry isn't, so as Superman fights more powerful foes (Doomsday) he tends to use up energy reserves faster than he can replenish them.
Sentry on the other hand does not, he can keep fighting for as long as it takes for victory. Am I saying that he can defeat Superman for a majority? That is an answer that will be proven or unproven in time.
To say automatically that Superman would win is an biased opinion at best.

Which is, more or less, analogous to saying that Aunt May has the potential to be Superman's superior....in time.
May's strength and speed feats aren't as impressive as Clark's, sure..
But who knows? Maybe the writers will completely change that in the very next issue of Spiderman.

Sentry went and averted a disaster so quickly all the way across the globe and was back so soon that his wife thought he went to the bathroom. That's a classic Superman feat.

Aunt May is superior than Superman.
