Thanos compared Power Gem Champion to the damn hulk (because Champion's strength kept on increasing because of the rage being triggered by the power gem). Thanos would get his @#$ beat without a plan if he ever tried to fight the Hulk head up, especially this current Hulk (WWH)!
Champion with the Power Gem would waste SBP, SBP is nothing special, so what he moved planets, Power Gem Champion can destroy a planet with a blow! Attack power > Pushing/lifting strength, period.

In fact, he is very, very, very, very, very far from my favorite character.
Some of the characters I like include the Silver Surfer, Captain America, Iron Fist, and others that are....definitely not superboy prime. 😐.
Oh, and he didn't die. He's quite alive and well. 🙂.

In fact, it was the same one who fought Kazar (with a minor power-up, but still a low level clone).
SBP never altered reality with his punches on his own. He needed the reality-altering thing to hit, namely that pocket dimension he and the others were stuck in.
Second, SBP breaking out of the Phantom Zone isn't reality warping...it's...Pre-Crisis power. That's beyond reality.
And from what I heard, Thanos never beat Champion. Just outsmarted him.
