Me too. 😄

Depends on how you trust the person online....
Yep.

In the old days, people used to write letters to each other, now we have a new and wonderful technology.

Yes.

Wrong means wrong, say wrong if you mean wrong or don't say wrong if you don't mean wrong.

If you said you got attacked by a dog, but it was really a shark, and someone called you an idiot, you'd deserve it.

Wrong and unsuitable are synonyms. You're analogy is flawed.

"Online relationships suck because when I was 13 I was in one that failed!"

Again... idiot.

Do you consider the people you come across online real friends or enimies or just words or a name on a screen. Are the people real to you as people.
I don't want you to include anyone you may have met from online or knew prior to conversing with people online. Only the ones you speak to totally through a computer.

How real are they to you?

Well yes, of course. They are real people, they're not figments of my imagination or Tiny Tims created by KMC to amuse me. They're just people sitting on the other side of the screen like I'm sitting on my side of the screen. Albeit some of them may be alternate identities, but that doesn't make the typer less of a (self-conscious) real person.

Though I know that they can, and do work, I could not have an actual romantic relationship, in which the chief communication was online.Good on the people who can, I just can't.

So, in my opinion our ability to form relationships online is based on individual differences, there is no yes or no answer.

Wow, so you PURPOSELY forget what I said before and try to take something else as my thesis just to make me look like the idiot here somehow.

You did that all by yourself.

I think people who use the internet to meet a significant other, are pathetic and cowards. Get out the house and meet someone.

Odd, I think the same thing of people that don't consider the Internet as a possible way to meet people.

It's stupid, in real life you are limited much more than on the Internet. It has obviously multiple advantages.

^ I agree with Mr. Bardock ^-^

How does the means with which you communicate affect the validity of the relationship?

Thanks for that fear

I think you can form friendships, and maybe have a romantic relationship, but it's all about trust; anyone on this board could be a paedophile or a pervert. I think a downfall of internet relationships is that you can't be intimate. Sure, you can say words, but unless you are looking into that person's eyes, how can you know they are being truthful?
I also think, though, that two people who know each other, go to the same school/college/work etc, but don't really talk much because of different groups of friends or whatever can form friendships online. I've done it loads of times.

No we don't. For most people the internet is a diversion. The people at the other end are no more or less important than some guy in an indian call centre.
