It shoudl be noted that DS in Rock of ages ereacted a shield that wasn't able to be penetrated by anyone. From his own power. You should also note that DS is a very powerful Telepath. So thanos wouldn't be able to get thru the shield if that were possible. But the scans are irrelevant. You said no future showings of DS. That would include low showings. And Thanos cannot make himself smaller than a light particle. Also the fallen one isn't as fast as DS. DS has flown at unimaginable speeds. Niether is the fallen one anywhere near as powerful or as strong as DS.
Thanos doesnt need to make himself smaller than a light particle. He just has to put his hands on Darkseid's head. Face it the Rock of Ages is canon and shows Ds is susceptible to this kind of attack.

Thus solidifying that Galactus is indeed mightier than Omega. And Omega had consumed a few worlds before his attack. While I think Big G had consumed One. I could be wrong in my memory. At any rate, the feats are both of tech and Not Thanos's own durability.

Um quan, Nothing could get thru the shields. Only something smaller than a light particle. And Thanos attack is a mental one. DS is a psy of the highest order. I fail to see the connection.

Thanos is pissed now and shatters the stone statues as well as the ground. Thanos levitates himself after almost losing his footing.
Then DS realizes that Thanos cannot fly, nor is he as fast as he.
DS launches an all out assualt of powers that Thanos hasn't realized were DS to employ.
DS causes the sky to rumble and uses wind to attack Thanos.

Thanos launches a cosmic beam of energy that almost kills DS. DS instantly uses the Omega EFFECT on HIMSELF.
We have seen the destructive power of the OE injure DS gravely. This time DS uses the OE to swap his injured body out with his body 5 seconds ago.
DS says to thanos, Mastery over time is another ability that eludes you mad Titan. I could if I so chose send you to the four corners of time. But DS is a ruthless and yet merciful God. Bow in my service and I'll spare you the humiliation of being BFR'd.
Thanos laughs at Ds request and launches a blast that could knock over Galactus.
DS opens up a boom tube and the blast vanishes.
DS speaks again. You seem to be short a few abilities Titan. Let me show you what a true God can do.
DS blast the ground and splits the planet down it's core. Leaving Thanos adrift in the gravity of what once was a planet. DS flies around Thanos blasting him from every angle. Thanos is not amused. He uses his own TK to grab an asteriod and uses it like a make shift surf board.
Touche Mad titan. I would have thought no ground to stand upon would be your own undoing.
Thanos speaks, Thanos of Titan is every bit your superior in combat and guile.
DS replies. ORLY? DS then Opens up twin black holes on either side of Thanos. DS says, let us test your strength against opposing forces of nature.
Thanos struggles to hold himself together and then DS begins to Blast thanos with Spectre lvl hurting OE's.Thanos begins to faulter under all of the pressure. Thanos raises a circular shield to deflect DS OE blast.
DS Sends out finder beams and this is what happens to Thanos shield.

Thanos is blasted with the Full effect Omega Effect. He staggers. Yet he lives.
DS is out raged. He gives Thanos this speach:
You are a worthy Foe mad Titan. You like the old Gods, are able to resist the OE for a time. But in the end, you proved to be no God at all. You have no control over the elements, You cannot control reality, you can only resist its effects for a time. You cannot move at Super speed, you do not have the ability to fly or move thru out the space time continuim under your own power. You have never stalemated a being such as highfather. One who can rip assunder the very fabric of reality itself. You have never harmed any multiversal being let alone an omniversal one. I have injured the mighty spectre. I have also lended my power to the demise of the antimonitor and the Imperiex. The best I have seen thru my cosmic eye that you have done is knock the Mighty Galactus off of his feat. There are a many ways I can defeat you, But I find this one most fitting. You are able to resist the effects of reality manip. But you have been shown to still undergo the changes ever so breifly. I Now Depower you.DS uses his power absorbtion power, and takes Thanos's might as his own, As he simultaniously uses reality manip to turn thanos into glass, as has been shown to happen. Then Opens up a boom tube and out comes the blast that Thanos shot from earlier.
DS hits Thanos who is now powerless and glass with another OE powered up by Thanos own power, and the blast from thanos sent hurling out of the boom tube.
Thanos is smashed into trillions of pieces. His conciousness trapped in each shard of glass as he is banned from Death by mistress.
The victory is and has always been DS for the taking.
In the End, Thanos proved to be a one trick pony. With nothing more than Blast and strength. While DS had power in spades as well as an infinite amount of ways to defeat the titan.
Summation.
Ok to start things off let us go over some defeats of both the characters involved here. First we have Thanos. Nver brought up Thanos's defeat at the hands of Adam Warlock's ghost. While that is fine and dandy here is my problem with it. When resurrected by Mistress Death he was amped up indefinitely. He has since to be defeated in that fashion since then. Thanos lost pretty much to Tyrant. Tyrant is a being who hasnt lost to anyone and has dealt with heralds in groups as nothing more than a nuisance. I also showed scans of him injuring Galactus. He was prevailing in that fight. So really no other being other than Galactus has beaten Tyrant so no shame in that defeat. The only other defeat he really has is hhis loss to Drax. Drax has the rare ability to to kill Thanos. No other being has that kind of special power. Thanos was killed from behind as well as he wasnt even engaging him in the fight and was busy trying to free Galactus.
Now let us go over the Darkseid defeats that we have seen here in this very debate. Ds was stalemated once by Superman straight up with no one else interfering. In the Superman/Batman story he was beaten by Superman and thrown into the Sourcewall at the end of the fight. In this particular fight WW deflected Ds's omega beams right back into his face thus weakening him. Superman didnt want WW interfering anymore and she was soon dismissed out of the barn immediately afterwards anyways. Supes flew Ds against his will to the sun thus getting the amp himself. He didnt benefit from it being right over there but instead flew Ds to the sun. With this plot device power up Ds was no match for Superman. He pulverized him and ended the fight quickly thereafter.
So basically all I have told you about so far here is one stalemate in which it was even steven when the fight was concluded and in the other fight Superman had help and amped himself. Now we come to Apokolips now. This is a duel in the truest sense of the word. Superman challenged Darkseid to a duel and Darkseid accepted. It was one on one and there was no outside interference or outside help. Darkseid's omega effect was negated by heat vision. It didnt save Ds and he ultimately asked for quarter. He gave up and admitted defeat to Superman. There is a huge difference here as Superman beat him fair and square with just his normal regular powers.
Let us look at his other loss now to Doomsday. In this fight Doomsday went through a lot of Ds's forces here. Darkseid struck first with his beams. They only succeeded in burying Doomsday in rubble. When Doomsday got free and when he grabbed Darkseid the fight was over rather quickly. Darkseid didnt land another blow and was crushed. This loss was very lopsided and showed us that Darkseid cant last more than a few panels with Doomsday. He didnt land another blow or blast outside his initial one.
You see the difference here with both characters losses. Ds lost to Superman twice and was stalemated another time. I left out some other fights with them but all i needed to a show was that Superman can and could defeat Ds on his own. Thanos lost to Tyrant. Tyrant is vastly superior to Superman. Drax beating him under special circumstances and Adam Warlock beat a weaker preamped Thanos in ghost form. Not to mention the lack of hand to hand combat Darkseid had in both these losses.
Now I will go into Thanos vast superiority in hand combat to Darkseid. Darkseid has always been able to opponents quickly and easily. He used a hand gesture to defeat Firestorm and Orion with. Firestorm and Orion both pale in comparison to Thanos and dont have the feats or the power level that he has. The problem is that Ds has always lost when some of his fights carry on and dont end this way. In fights in which the fights carry on he loses steam quickly and cannot take the physical punishment unleashed by his opponents. His omega effect and his hand gestures have won some fights in the past. Whatever the case is he fails when it fails. When his easy way out of the fight doesnt work he loses. He omega'd Doomsday and failed after his onehot method failed. He failed on Superman twice in his losses after his Omega didnt win him the fight and he had to press on.
Thanos in hand to hand combat has been able to mix it up with just about anyone he has fought. Thor is no challenge for him. Anyone ion his level Thanos has never lost to outside special circumstances. He has always been a beast in hand to hand and has never been beaten as soundly and easily as Ds has in the losses I had just finished talking about. So he easily is the better man when it comes to hand to hand as I have proved this point in my gazillion scans from his fights in this very thread.
Durability is the next thing we will go over here. Thanos easily has him beat in this regard as well. Thanos took a brutal pounding from Thor armed with the power gem. He was insane as well and was out to kill here. Thanos took everything he had to dish out and walked away to end the fight when he wanted to. Look at what Superman and Doomsday did to him in their victories. The difference is that superman defeated Darkseid on his own but Thor couldnt even beat Thanos with an enormous powerup. Thanos also took a beating from Odin and lasted the majority of this comic. He never yielded even though he had the chance and had nothing to fight for. Darkseid yielded to Superman under far less punishment. Thanos has him beat in durability hands down.
Darkseid would try to end the fight quickly and try to one shot him with the Omega effect. Thanos has never been oneshotted after his resurrection amp outside of the unique Drax angle. Nver himself admitted that Thanos would survive it. So when we take into account Thanos's durability and his resilience during his fights he would most certainly press on. This is even if the omega hits him but just saying if it did it wouldnt finish him as nver also agrees. When a fight presses on and Ds cant finish a powerful opponent off the bat he struggles. Thanos seems to get better and enjoy this. He smiled when Thor was thrashing him and started to get serious as blood dripped down his face.
Speed was brought up by nver with regards to Darkseid. Nver said Thanos has never faced an opponent like Ds. Well the same can be said if you flip it around. Darkseid has never met anyone like Thanos with the hand to hand fighting prowess,overall powers,and tremendous durability that he has. So there goes that theory. So when Thanos has met beings with speed and power such as the Fallen One and the Silver Surfer has has beaten them with ease and hasnt been at a disadvantage at all. Speed and strength havent defeated Thanos so that is speculation as nver has nothing to show you to back up his fruitless claims that he simply never has met a being like Ds.
All in all Thanos has lost to plot devices and more powerful characters. Darkseid has lost to weaker characters and been humiliated and stomped when he fought more powerful ones. Darkseid cant oneshot him and I have proven that Thanos has more than enough durability to outlast Darkseid here. This fight wont be over quickly and then the only one standing will be Thanos with a bloody smile on his face.

I do not have the time to write out a full fledged report on why I voted the way I voted (my own fault).
However, I have come to some conclusions based soley on this match (being that I know almost nothing about these two characters).
To me it seemed like Thanos had/has the one up on Darksied in terms of pure mental strength. He is, from what I have seen, more cunning and just all around smarter. This is not to say that DS is NOT smart, just that Thanos always seems to get what he wants through a gamble rather than his own power.
However, DS, in my opinion, has Thanos beat in terms of power output and over all standing when it comes to comic book tiers. Being that this is a one on one fight, and I saw no prep time being mentioned, nor was this really fought in a tournament style, I would have to base it on who is more powerful in the quickdraw. Many things influenced this, from his omega effect, to his various other powers, and the fact that while not really prevalent in this fight, without a boom tube to even out the difference he really is a giant compared to thanos.
Debating style, both of you seemed to improve a hell of a lot. Not to be rude, but I actually understood you both for about the first time ever 😬 Good Job both of you 👆
In the end however, this debate came to who had the more powerful character in a straight up fight. Because of this I will have to vote Nver
