I didn't think much of it at all, I found most of the musical scenes incredibly cringeworthy. Was a disappointment for me since I'm a massive Tim Burton fan, his style was obviously there so that kept me interested at least. I know it's a musical, but I probably would have enjoyed it more as a straight film.

thats exactly how i felt. I couldnt wait for the singing to be be over with but to my surprise, this movie didn't give us much time between songs.

I enjoyed it nonetheless.

if you can see the show, see the show.

otherwise, watch the movie.

but know that the show is soooo much better.

I did not think of Jack Sparrow once during the film.

Edward Scissorhands, only minorly.

My father says that there is less blood in the play. While I enjoyed the movie, I think maybe the blood could get a tad superfluous, even if it was realistic.

No matter, I enjoyed it muchly.

[sorry double postage]

YES. in the show, blood is represented by a red spotlight that hits the victim just as sweeny cuts their throat. it would obviously hard to do even special effects blood or prop blood because many of the murder scenes are interweaved with seeing johanna, seeing todd and lovett go out to walk.... and the red light is jarring. it's like *shaving to "something wicked this way comes" *music, then the red spot and the blasting horns BOOM at the same time, and the chair dumps the victim through a trapdoor, and the next victim comes in. this makes the whole sequence at the beggining of act two much more graceful, less gory, and you then get the weirdness of the people turning into meat pies below while sweeny chops them above, and it becomes a well oiled machine. funny, but creepy.
